This is something that's really awesome to do.
Get a 61" HDTV at 720p and hook your computer up to it.
I had to play in an unsupported resolution, but 800x600 worked flawlessly if anyones curious on that.
The damn tv would only do 16x9 aspect ratio with 800x600 (800x600 is obviously not 16x9), that was the only way to get the stupid tv not to play my game in 4x3 aspect.
I got the game to take up the whole screen and started playing.
It was cool, i even had 4.1 surround sound (my bro's a bachelor hence the surround sound and big tv).
Then i started playing through the whole fs2 main campaign from the living room coffee table in the audio sweet spot.
IT WAS AWESOME!
Anyway, it's quite a necessary environment for people who would want to do the 4player campaign (never tried that before).
Also great when you can have all the features turned on in the launcher, and 3.6.8mvp's.
Though, nothing beats playing fs2 with a good pair of headphones on you're own monitor, i prefer that because it's more immersive

That sounds very cool. What I would really like to try at some point is to play FS2 on a projector. I had a chance once last year when I happened to be alone in a NIST lecture room, but I didn't have FS2 on my laptop. Unreal and Deus Ex looked amazing on the 16' screen though.

That's the way I always play it, and since I use 2048x1536 I can sit close to the monitor to have the image fill up more of my view while still looking sharp. Also, FS2 is one game that simply has to be played in the dark, regardless of what display you're using. It's a whole different experience from playing it in a lighted room.

Here you can see the big HD with my mouse and keyboard on the coffee table, and my computer at the base of the tv close to the wood stove.




Then the profiles screen in lovely 1280x720 (which is a 16x9 resolution).

The loadout screen shows how much is sucks to take screenshots on an HD.

And the vindicator shows further that my camera likes to digest those engine glows big time, also the light from the window above the tv that had a curtain too.

The yo****omo looks nice from the back.

This is the best shot, the vindicator blows up, and that window above the tv thing isn't bad.

I can't tell if this one is the iceni or the hinton going against the sobek.

This was as good as i could show off the new asteroids.

And this was me unable to hold the camera still.

Anyway, fs2 on HD rocks.
But very hard to get pics, i couldn't get dogfights in a photo or else i'd be dead by the time my slow ass light exaggerating camera takes a picture.
Plus most of the time i had to fly my ship, and take pictures, you can't add very good flying with that, or holding the camera very still.
Anyway, it's all good now.
Fs2 is very cinematicy on the HD, the asteroids look ****ing awesome, shockwaves, everything, it was really cool.
Also modelview on the big screen was cool too.

You might want to take a look at the others.
The best one being the perseus in the nebula with the hecate.
It's not my equipment, but my older bro's.
He's not home when i do this generally, but even he was amazed when he was fs2 on his tv last night.
I took these shots today.
I still prefer my own monitor and head phones though.
With a monitor it really puts you a lot closer to the action because it's like being in a fighter cockpit.
On the other hand with the 61" HD, it's more like the main window on the front of a capship bridge.
The big screen works better if you were to fly a capship, which some mods let you do.
So, i was sort of thrown off by the big screen in a fighter, i played much better on a smaller screen, because then things felt more correct for their size and i didn't feel like a fighter pilot exposed by my perseus's bridge sized window and cockpit That was the main part that through me off big time.

The iceni looked cinematicy, but it sucked because of it's simple design as compared with other warships and fighters that were remade, same with the colossus.
The iceni just doesn't look good on that screen compared to the new deimos that i also have a shot of.
And yes, i have yet to find out why hlp censored y-o-s-h-i-t-o-mo

you have a point there, so far i've gotten to see bsg off a 480i sattellite feed, it'd be really nice if hd broadcasts were readily available now.

yeah, I guess a mid-range projector would be a better buy instead, even if I had that kind of money.

As for the censoring, I noticed that kind of thing a few times on the other forum I go to, with Matsu****a being replaced by asterisks. Maybe this place does the same thing...
