Actually I find that most shivan vessels are flying coffins, no armor at all it kinda gets on your nerves when trying to balance missions

mmh... after all, this shows interesting reactions... Ingame, nobody will fear a lone manticore, right? even in the highest difficulty level it's a joke. But everybody assumes that a manticore should be a lethal foe, on that render. That's a feeling I'd like to have in a space sim: any enemy fighter seen as a real threat to the player, not just one more annoying little thing to add to the killing board, much like in a real flight sim (see the difference between quake where you can kill dozens of monsters w/o any fear, and rainbow 6 where any enemy can mean the failure of the mission).

Those were the text equivalents of my initial reaction to the render. Nothing really new as far as I could see, but the laser bursts looked pretty nice. What did you make 'em in?

The problem is that the AI is too stupid and not aggresive enough to be a real challenging opponent.  I find that if it's down to you and one other AI fighter the fight is pretty much over.  You'll win eventually (barring a stupid mistake of course).

Oh yeah, great render BTW.  It's a neat take on an otherwise worn out subject. I like it.

That reminds me, I REALLY want to try my MOD in multi-play.  All attempts so far have failed (but they all were with untextured models).  Even uploading a *.VP file to everyone's computer on the LAN didn't work.  Any ideas?

If I recall, they aren't much of a THREAT at high difficulty- but they can be pretty friggin hard to kill.

At least with the velocity mod, anyway. I haven't played without it for a while.
