The original HotU rip was a real nightmare to use or upgrade. It lacked music, voice acting and the high res graphics (meaning that you could only play in 640x480). The second version was basically everything except the cutscenes. I could have made it smaller. In fact... *Digs out e-mail to Underdog*

I've prepared 3 different rips of the game so that I could offer you a choice as to how much of your precious bandwidth you'd have to give up.

Rip 1 is the whole game with cutscenes and is 1.5GB in size. Probably far too large for you but hey you never ask, you never get

Rip 2 is everything bar the cutscenes and is 685MB in size.

Rip 3 is the core game (only missing out the command briefing and techroom animations) and is 400MB in size.

Rip 2 was what Underdog put up. Rip 3 is basically Rip 2 with 4 VPs deleted. After that you start losing more important things like music, high-res graphics and the like.

BTW. HotU link updated. I wasn't aware that downloads were working on the new site so I hadn't updated seeing as how I though the issue was temporary.

Please help me clean some ambiguous:
1. Is this FS2  3 CD version?
2. Is this original FS2 of Violiton?
3. Is "FS - The Great War" =  FS1?
4. Is FS2 included in "Freespace 2 SCP fullpack with installer v1 5c" by ShivanSpS = FS2  3 CD version?

That's the 3CD version, plus the official 1.2 patch (necessary). Using that would be a good basis for building Freespace SCP from it.

Yep. That is the 3CD version of FS2. FS1 isn't in that pack but it along with FS2 are included in ShivanSPS's pack (Although the version in his pack is the FS1 on FS2 port rather than the original stand alone game).

Just a quick question. Every time I try to un-RAR the game after downloading all of the various parts, I get that part1.RAR is corrupt. I have tried re-downloading part1 several times now and get the same thing each time. Any clues as to what might be causing this. Thanks.

I will PM you a link to my site, there is a  3 disc set you can download off of my site or you can download an 600-700 MB preinstalled version, it has everything except cutscenes. As for other people having such a problem, PM me, post here, or email me and I will send you the link too.

That's DW-Hunter's site. He doesn't want it linked to in such a public thread cause he can't spare the bandwidth of having everyone reccomend it as the first place to start

The 3CD download on that site is best suited for people who only want to play retail. As such there is no point in wasting his bandwidth for people who are immediately going to upgrade to FS2_Open when the HotU download has much more bandwidth
