i've tried this dozens of times now, and i just can't do it.  grr.

btw, this is the level where you're in the captured shivan fighter and have to scan their base - cargo containers, freighters, and cruisers, etc - to figure out what they're up to, and you can't leave/complete the mission until you've scanned them all.

i get the 4 cargo containers scanned okay, and the first freighter wing (even though they're firing on me the whole time), and sometimes part of the second freighter wing.  but invariably i get blown up by them, or the arjuna fighter wing, or someone else.  and from what i understand there are still some cruisers that come later that i have to scan?  what the hell?

is there a trick or something i'm missing?  you have to be within 150 distance to scan something right?  and i can't shoot back (i mean there are too many enemies anyway) or call in reinforcements or make my shield super-strong?

Unless there's some bug, you shouldn't get fired on until later in the mission.  If you get too close to either one of Arjuna wing or one of the sentries, you get a warning message.  If you get even closer (than a certain distance), they'll start attacking you.  One of the fuction keys will cycle between the fighters in Arjuna wing, so you can see how far away they are, and the sentrys are on the other side of the jumpnode.  Just keep your distance from them, follow your objectives, and you should do fine.  Just make sure you don't get run over .

okay, i just tried it a bunch more times.  even without ever getting the warning that arjuna is dangerously close, or getting near the sentry guns, i scan the cargo containers and start to approach the freighters after they jump in.  they fire on me every time no matter which direction i approach them from, and then all hell breaks loose.  i got the message to advance to the next level and i'm doing that for now, and maybe i will try and go back later and do this one again.  right now i'm really frustrated.  i feel like there is some basic thing i am missing?

Yeah sounds like a bug, or you keep shooting off your terran lasers in shivan territory.

There was a bug in some versions of CVS that caused this.  Try a more recent version.
