Of course, if you don't know how to use FDISK, it can be VERY dangerous...

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

Are you actually admitting that you don't know how to use FDisk!?

It's not hard...open it up and it's more or less self-explanatory from there. But be CAREFUL...you might kill your computer if you do the wrong thing. Which I have done more than once.

The only thing it'd do is wipe the partitions. (the closest thing you can get to a low-level format.)

However, if you edit or create any new partitions, any data on that hard drive will be erased.  Backup ALL data to another hard drive before creating any new partitions (or pay $60 for a copy of Partition Magic and adjust or create new partitions on the fly).

I've never used FDisk before. I admit that much.

Besides, I only have 8.6GB total. What's there to partition anyway?

Uhh... unless you get used or something, smallest they go for nowadays is 10Gb, and that's if you're lucky... :0

Well, I've installed Windows 2000. Sure hope I can play my favourite games on it.

As for hard disk drives, I would rather go for at least 20GB ones. Because I need to install so many large programs like Adobe Photoshop 6 and 3D Studio Max R4. Not to mention FreeSpace 2.

ME is pathetic!
Do not use ME!

EDIT:  Rumor has it that the school district that I go to decided over summer to install ME on all their computers in the district (that's more than 5,000)
and they had it on for a few weeks, then they formatted and went back to 95, because ME is so unstable!  (that's just rumor and legend, but I can believe it!)

XP still has a few bugs in it.  I say wait till the bugs and the price goes down before you buy it!
I've got the BETA version, but I'm waiting to get the proper full version still.

Remember how much laptops were when they came out?  Remember how much the 166 MHZ processor was when it came out?  more than $500.00  now you can get one for about $1.00 and it's considered expensive!
  lol :lol

yea but some of us are stuck with Comcraps... I mean Compaqs which are inherently unstable to begin with.  If XP will keep me from seeing the 'Blue Screen of Death' it's worth it.
I told you that It would be done by November, well, mostly anyway...

I'm working on something new... shhhhh, it's a seceret.

I'll grant WinXP one good thing... I think the minimum requirement for it was a 200MHZ processor...
I installed it on a 166MHZ Processor with 64 MB Ram, and it ran as quick as Windows 98 runs on my 900 MHZ with 128 MB Ram
