Well, they pulled one huge one.Even tho the Halo trailer is nice, this from a fun point of view blows it out of the water. :D

I think the SSB trailer was / is rendered, though.  Scarcely alone in that (although it's the only Nintendo one that was AFAIK) respect, of course.

EDIT; supposedly was, anyways.  Not sure about screenshots - they would seem legit - I've yet to see the trailer itself, though.  The term used was 'computer generated', which might not necessarily imply pre-rendered.

That's a tad hyperbolic.

It's really hard to say, some is questionable, other parts I'm nearly positive is game footage.

But, still that they included Snake, who else will they add.

*hopes they add Ridley :D

I'm ashamed to admit I never managed to play the Smash Bros games, but I intend to make up for that (DS version please?).

How about a Goomba?  Or Pikmin?  sonic?  (given the availability of some Megadrive games for the virtual console bit).  Toad?  Metal Mario?

Or how about a bloody great comedy Mech, just to throw people off? :D

They've seemed pretty set on sticking to strictly Nintendo characters up until this point it seems. Always nice to see some new faces. And yes, these look very, very fun!

I wasted untold hours in 1999 playing SSB for the 64.  Still play it on rare occassions that I can get enough people to play it.

BTW, Snake is the guy from the Metal Gear Solid games, right?

Yeah.  Apparently Hideo Kojima (the creator of MGS) wanted - asked for - him to be put in the GC version but was too late.  so it's in this one.

EDIt; trailer link FYI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yE8mjROOM1I

I like how they morph into their new models for the Wii, and Kirby looks exactly the same. I got a kick outta it.

Another interesting thought, since Snake is in and since Ubi Soft is on board with Nintendo, are we gonna see everyone's favorite Splinter Cell, allthough it wasn't started on nintendo from my knowledge? Pretty interesting, Snake vs Sam, until Samus kicks their butts of couse. :p

I'm pretty sure Splinter Cell has been on both the Gamecube and DS.

EDIT; whoops.  Can I have the other end of the stick?  Taa muchly.

I doubt it myself.... 2 black-clad secrety people would be too generic, plus it's worth noting Kojima asked them to put in Snake rather than the other way round.

Set in a science-fiction war zone, Warhawk is the first game to make public use of Sony's own kinetic controller, which mimics the Wii device. Unfortunately for Sony, the admission by one of the Warhawk developers that his team got its hands on the new controller less than two weeks ago reinforced the impression that Sony only added motion-sensitive technology at the last minute in a hasty attempt to match Nintendo.

Wow, no duh. :p

Damn, this just ain't Sony's week. M$ siding with Big-N, intense flak over the high pricing, this debacle, what else could go wrong?

The funny thing is, if you are gonna try to mimic somebody's stuff, you are suposed to go one step higher than them, making the tech better. Not throwing in a half baked thing at the last moment that really doesn't compare to it. And that is what Sony should take the flak about, out do the comp, not just stuff something in to say we have this ability too.

You know, if for no other reason, Snake in SSB would be soul destroying because he could...and probably at some point will...get beaten up by Pikachu.

If Microsoft would only know that from the start we wouldn't have suffered so much with Windows...(specially that ME)

At Sony's E3 press conference, the PlayStation 3 controller was revealed to be a wireless version of the previous controller design, as opposed to the often maligned "boomerang" prototype wireless design that was previously showcased.

The PlayStation 3 controller features four numbered LED indicators at the top, presumably to identify and distinguish multiple connected wireless controllers. It also has a USB cable port at the top of the controller for charging the internal battery through USB.

In addition to the basic design, the other major feature revealed at the press conference was the ability to sense rotational and translational acceleration to allow for a full six degrees of freedom. The controller is lighter than prior DualShock controllers. Because of inclusion of the motion-sensing function, the rumble capability of the previous controllers was omitted, so as not to interfere with motion sensing.

Early commentaries have compared the motion-sensing capability of the PS3 controller to that of Nintendo's Wii controller. A key difference noted is the lack of a positional sensor for the PS3 controller, which has been speculated to indicate a more narrow and limited capability than that of the Wii controller. Despite this, the specifics of the motion-sensing technologies for both PS3 or Wii are still largely unknown, and any suppositions of the versatility and accuracy of either are still conjecture at this point. Nevertheless, Sony's inclusion of motion-sensing functionality in the PS3 was perceived to undermine a prime distinction of Nintendo's console, which has emphasized unique gameplay mechanics over the processing power and elaborate online infrastructures of its competitors.

Other, more minor refinements have also been made to the controller. The L2 and R2 shoulder buttons have evolved to triggers (similar to those found on the Xbox and Xbox 360 controllers), and are therefore slightly larger than on previous PlayStation controllers, for better control and finer analog sensitivity. The analog sticks also have finer analog sensitivity, at 10-bit accuracy, as compared to the 8-bit accuracy of the previous models.

Getting beat up by Jigglypuff would be more embarassing.
