Re: X-Men: The Last Stand
she coulda taken wolverine apart, just like all those other people, she must have subconsciously wanted him to do what he did

plus, i think she was powerful enough that one of those darts wouldnt have worked on her.  of course, i think that this 'cure' wears off after time, just like when you get far away from the leech, your mutation comes back. same deal here.

also: since when has any pharmaceudical company decided to sell a cure for something when they had a treatment that they could sell more than once?

Yeah, being able to rip substances apart by the molecules seems like it should apply even to adamantium (sp?). I'll accept subconscious thought for that one though.

It was a pretty big Turkey.

Although I nearly cried when Picar.... I mean Xavier died.  Now if you'll excuse me. I have to reinforce some old therapy.

I am a strong independent male. I do not need Star Trek to be happy. I realise that the cliched plots, the endless technobabble, and the (excluding Patrick Stewart) shoddy acting make every episode cringeworthy. When I feel the need to watch star trek, I will simply say No. I will not put the posters back up. Riker Was Fat.

That is the best speech ever.
Also, the Jor-El speech? "I have sent them you, my only son"? Use of widespread Judero-Christian tradition in Western culture, anybody...
I wonder if the Shivans eat chocolate? Or play FS2, for that matter.

...the character was raised jewish by his surrogate family? Or the actor is jewish? Or the creator is jewish?

Joseph Shuster and Jeremiah Siegel.

It really doesn't get any more Jewish than that.

Meh, I thought the movie was...ok. It had no sensitivity to the emotional side of what was happening, and on top of that, you had no chance to absorb anything. One thing I was especially pissed at was...
EDIT: Where'd the spoiler tags go?! Scroll down for it.

[major spoiler]
Spoiler:
When Xavier got killed, it wasn't more than TWO SCENES LATER that we were treated to some stupid Malibu High teeny bopper "you're stealing my boyfriend" crap. Something as monumental as Xavier's death should have had more reprucussions than a funeral scene and some shots of empty wheel chairs. On top of that, they belittled the whole thing by putting that stupid rouge/daryl or w/e his name is crap.

If only Jack Nicholson was about 40 years younger, we'd have the perfect Wolverine right there :(

Re: X-Men: The Last Stand
Yup, he's got that same level of self-cynicism that I love about the character :)

In fact, even 10-15 years ago with the help of CG, he would have been good, more in-line with the Marvel Comics as well where he's generally depicted of undefined middle age (He fought alongside Cap America during WW2, I've always considered him one of the 'old guard' mutants, not Apocalypse-old but still one who came into their powers a few generations before the 'X-Gene' properly took a hold).

The only good thing about Cable is that he and Deadpool share the same comic. It's like bubonic plague - it's bad, but at least I have it so there must be something good about it (by proxy).

Cable is the ultimate 90s Liefeldian* tough bad in-your-face over-the-top boring character there is. HE USES HIS MIND TO KEEP A TECHNOVIRUS CONTAINED and he is superhyperpowerful supertelepath and his glowing eye switches sides and he has a cybord arm and a ****load of ridiculous guns and swords and whatever.

*literally too, mein gott
lol wtf
