Re: Got Multiple Computers?
Total, my family has 7 computers. Thats one for each member, plus a server for my older brother. Of course, they are not side-by-side. Mine is in my room, my brother's in the basement (practicly his room :) ), My (older) sister's in her room, my mom's a laptop, my dad's in his room, my little sister's in my parents room too, and my brother's server is in the basement also.

i have two, the one i'm using right now and my old Windows 98 computer that I don't use. due to all the hardware and software i have, i probably can't do anything on it. :p

My freind has a 98 like that, except they do use it. It'd run fine except they MAULED it. They have 6 or 7 anti-virus/spyware programs running at the same time, along with their monitor running at an extremely low resolution.

Re: Got Multiple Computers?
Side by side? None. Computers I own, I got four desktops and two laptops... I only use two of the desktops and one of the laptops, the others just kinda sit there and gather dust.

Desktop and a laptop.

I use a program called VNC server to take control of my desktop from my laptop these days, instead of that other program. (BTW; Sarny, Kazan linked to synergy a few weeks back)

Put some old games on it. I keep an old computer just for those since none of the newer motherboards internally support ISA, which I need for my Live 5.1's SB16 emulation to work and to get sound in DOS games. Dosbox is unfortunately too slow with most of the newer protected mode games. I also have a couple of Win95 games on there that work in 98/ME but not XP, along with some Glide-only 3D games.

Knowing me, that's probably where I got it from. :p

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

Re: Got Multiple Computers?
Not sure how many I have, but it's at least five.

1. Main rig, 'Sathanas'. Primary system with one or two screens depending on availability.
2. Server, 'Shiva'. Only has four cables plugged in: power, keyboard, and two UTP patch. Operates as Apache, DHCP, DNS and PXE server.
3. Secondary, 'Cain'. Used for LAN parties. Not as powerful as Sathanas but gets the cast-offs, making it a beast in its own right. When active at home (usually for testing network apps), it steals a screen from Sathanas.
4. LAN server, 'Abel'. In the same ATX case as Cain, which has a built-in KVM and some homebrew power supplies. Used as a dedicated server at LANs.
5. Tablet PC, 'Seraphim'. Mainly used at work, but it is mine.
6. Hangar Queen, 'Lucifer'. The original secondary machine but now a source of spare parts. I'm going to fix it up and donate it to the Uni's Computer Games Society as a dedicated server. I'll not be able to get rid of it any other way.

So I have six. Only three get any regular use though.

Re: Got Multiple Computers?
Hehe ... your machines should meet up with mine some day.

The main gaming rig aptly named 'Orion',
its predecessor now a Linux box called 'Fenris'
and a Sun Ultra 10 called .... wait for it ..... 'Leviathan'

Re: Got Multiple Computers?
i remember one time i used terminal services to control 2 other computers that didnt have anything but power and network cables in them. i used them for media transcoding, video editing, cd burning, compiling quake maps and any other application which sucks the life from the computer for long periods of time. it was a nice arrangement and i always had the resources of my main computer at my disposal.

Re: Got Multiple Computers?
2 side by side, the main pc (2800+ A64) and then the secondary (333 Celeron).

Allthough I do have one 486 in a closet and one truly old laptop (propably 90Mhz pentium or something, haven't checked it out yet).

Also I'm trying to convince my boss that instead of lying around in the office I could take our old server -pentium 3 something- (which has not been used in a year or so) with me make that as my secondary :D
Habeeb it...

No halves?

Re: Got Multiple Computers?
I've got two Pentium 3s and one K6-2 lying around boardless. The boards were either faulty or they became faulty after I tried to remove the ISA ports. The problem with cutting discs is that they can scratch the board if you're not careful.

Re: Got Multiple Computers?
And why would you want to cut the ISA ports off ?
