Over the past decade I've tried 3DS Max(v4/5), Lightwave 3D(v7.5), Cinema 4D(v7), TrueSpace(v3-6.6) and a bit of Blender(v2x). I found 3DS Max/Lightwave 3D to have very cluttered interfaces, TrueSpace to be incredibly difficult to use and with the short time I spent on Cinema 4D I found it to be the best. I didn't really use Blender much at all, but I would think from what I have used, that’s the best place to start if you’re looking for something which doesn't cost money. It might be worth checking out other free 3D applications since everyone does learn differently, for example some people prefer menus with text instead of visual cues(icons with pics).

I have a free version of Cinema 4D, I got it from computer graphics magazine/or pc format i cant remember which, That was a few years back.  C4D has some pretty cool lensflare effects.

Actualy its quite old I was thinkig about changing it! Never imagined it would have such an effect.

Also what is exactely this coordinates stuff you said? Is it available in the 3.2.or is it 3.4 the free version? cant remeber exactly wich was for download.

In truespace, theres an icon shaped like a mouse pointer, Just right click it once to open a box that has XYZ boxes. Isn't there a FAQ for this somewhere, My first fighter etc?

Dont know havent gotten around to cheking. But rest asured that as soon as I can grab some free time with truespace i will be more then willing to nag you abaut diferent tips and stuff like that

if its vasudan or shivan brains i don mind! In fact i kind of like the idea of seeing what those fishwuvig guis have in theyr heads but the shivans...wellll that is a problem...do they even have a head or something like that?? for all we know they brains could be inside one of those legs. Or thy could be one giant brain themselfs...now thats a scary picture...the galaxi conquered by giant brains multi legged brains.

Downloaded the cinema4d demo last night. Haven't quite installed it. If you know what i mean, i think i can take care of the demo/trial aspect with ease But, i won't do that until i find out i like it

Its pretty cool, open up some of the example files and render them, I think theres a lensflare/Atmospheric lighting one with a little ship, It turns out quite well..
