The Pirate Bay raided?
http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20060531-6949.html

Quote
BitTorrent tracker sites have come under heavy assault from the MPAA over the past year or so. One site that has operated with almost total impunity is the Swedish tracker site ThePirateBay.org. Those days may have come to an end, as the site was raided by Swedish law enforcement and has had all of its servers confiscated. Two of the site operators are currently in police custody as charges of breaching copyright law and assisting in the breach of copyright law are being investigated.

I know I have been saying this a lot lately, but I will say it again: :wtf:
"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside

Herding Cats.

How much did that whole operation cost, I wonder? And by this time next month, another one will spring up somewhere else and they'll have to do it all over again.

They really do need to think up a better plan of action than this, it's so wastefull :(

Glad to know there's nothing better for fifty police officers in Sweden to be doing than shutting down perfectly legal torrent sites.

Not that it's bad that criminals have been caught WeatherOp, but the problem is that, for every site they down, another 2 are created. I agree that Filesharing is illegal, no problem there, but I don't agree that the RIAA is dealing with it in anything near an efficient manner.

No, I could care less about this site and that site, anyways as I said a select few will know what I'm talking about. 8)

The Pirate Bay operators were not criminals. Swedish law allows for sharing torrent files because they contain no copyrighted data.

Re: The Pirate Bay raided?
I know that the sites do not hold files, or control what is shared on them Kami, but calling themselves 'The Pirate Bay' really was asking for it in the first place ;)

As far as the law is concerned, well, that'll be sorted out by the courts, but this 'No Retreat, No Surrender' attitude by the RIAA is costing an absolute fortune and achieving nothing, they really should be looking at some kind of compromise before they start wasting more money than they are saving the Industry.

Re: The Pirate Bay raided?
Who cares about Pirate Bay? Dozens of other sites out there. Pirate Bay stood for the public "**** You" To copyright owners, but its search terms were abysmal, which made me never use it.

Don't care if it does or doesn't come back.

i really did like piratebay's "**** you RIAA" attitude
it was amusing.

i'd click on one of their links to support them, but all those torrent ads are always full of porno or spyware...

Re: The Pirate Bay raided?
You know, during the filming of that movie there was a stunt where an axe was supposed to swing down within inches of the hero. The mechanism went off early and instead, it missed him by millimetres, I tell you what, 2 seconds earlier and I'd have given the FX team an Oscar ;)

Yeah, I just did a Google Image search for "noooooo" and this is what came up. And yes, it was an exceedingly ****ty movie, though it was bad enough that I still have fond memories.
