Post your favorite ds9 episode
Post your favorite DS9 Episode.

This footage is my favorite. That episode is Sacrifice of Angels. They thought all is lost and all the sudden the a battle group of vorchas show up. I remember seeing that as a kid being totally awed. DS9 Kicks ass. And then the birds of prey escort the defiant the rest of the way.

Never seen a full episode IIRC. Just remember one bit when a TNG-enterprise-shape-ship enters a portal /jump gate/thing with a couple of friendlies, gets ruffed up, then gets kamikazi'd in one of the nacelles. Just that shot was cool. You can kep the rest thanks.

i think it was the ep with the first encounter with the dominion fleet, my face was stuck in the "wtf?!?" pose for about the duration of the whole ep, a galaxy class ship, which we learned to be pretty much untouchable in TNG(enterprise :p) and then bam, Jem'Hadar bug kamikazi's itself in the main deflector or however is the glowy blue thing called, in the middle, blowing up a good portion of the ship. it was just.... OMGWTF??!??!?

needless to say, thats how i got hooked on DS9 permanently.

*nods heavily*

That episode marked the definite goodbye to the long standing Trek way of doing things. No more technobabble solutions for the main characters to chicken out of situations where there is no clear "good guy" choice.
Sisko had to get his hans dirty for the greater good of the Federation, which made him heaps more realistic than the happily-ever-after Picard.

That's actually one of the few DS9 episodes that I liked, generally the show seemed to be unfortunately a mix of something that could have been better and technobabble Voyager-esque crap.

it felt like trek started having balls with DS9 and then afterwards with Enterprise.

Re: Post your favorite ds9 episode
While I loved 'Sacrifice of Angels' and 'Tears of the Prophets' as much as any DS9 fan here, my absolute favorite episode has GOT to be Far Beyond the Stars. It is such a powerful and moving episode, truly one of the best episodes of not just Trek, but sci-fi as a whole, and maybe even TV altogether.

Ugh... I don't feel like downloading all seven seasons and the DVD's cost 649€... So I guess I'll never know what's the fuss about DS9.

Re: Post your favorite ds9 episode
there are so many moments scattered across so many episodes...

Here are some I like that haven't been said yet:

That one episode where the Breen are introduced and they totally rape the Federation fleet. First time I watched it I was like woot! Go Federation! Then when the ship's power went out I was like WTF!

Then there was the episode where Jake had to sacrifice himself to release Sisko from some space time continuum thingy.

Re: Post your favorite ds9 episode
I like the very last scene of the very last episode.

No, seriously, DS9 wasn't all that bad back then, and it's fun to rewatch episodes here and there, but since BSG.... I just can't help but imagine what DS9 would look like were it done in BSG-esque style. After all, RDM was one of the writers for DS9... ;)

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill
