HDRish Smartshader...
So, I've seen this thing in screenshots and I think it looks pretty decent and I'd like to try it out, but I can't seem to get it working.  Does it simply not work with newer catalyst drivers or is there an updated psscontrol.exe anywhere?

Any help would be much appreciated.  :)

edit - I have a Radeon 9800 pro so it should be supported.

Re: HDRish Smartshader...
Psscontrol2.exe sucks for loading smartshaders quite simply. I recommend doing it with omegadrivers which would give you more performance anyway. www.omegadrivers.net
First thing to look for is make sure you don't have any other smartshaders loaded in the CCC when you try to load hdrish with psscontrol2.exe, another thing is make sure you have dx9c installed(you probably do...wouldn't hurt to check...if i'm right dx8.1 you can still play fs2).
Hdrish and a bunch of other smartshaders are dx9 dependent and shader module 2.0 or higher dependent, which the radeon 9800 pro is compliant in those areas as opposed to something like the radeon 9250 which is dx8.1 compliant and not shader module 2.0 compliant.
I'm a previous 9800pro owner anyway, so i know you can get this working. Another thing is make sure you're not playing fs2 in directx. Play fs2 in opengl as some smartshaders don't work in directx games(another possible hinderance to you if you're playing fs2 in directx for some reason or not knowing that you are).
If hdrish still doesn't work for you after that, try reinstalling the drivers and then doing psscontrol2.exe with hdrish as that would certainly be messing around with a new install of catalysts. Make sure you have the newest version of catalysts(same thing if you use the omega's). I recommend the omega's though, it's easier to implement other smartshaders that didn't come with the drivers without using another program to do it like psscontrol2.exe.

Re: HDRish Smartshader...
I'm not sure what psscontrol2 is; just get ATI Tray Tools instead, which comes with everything you need. Make sure you use the ATI 6.3 drivers though. The newer ones don't support this effect.

Re: HDRish Smartshader...
I actually stopped using HDRish and use the Radiance Ghost effect instead, it doesn't have an effect on most things, but effects bright lights like explosions etc :) HDRish just comes off as unbearably bright on my system, no matter what I try.

Re: HDRish Smartshader...
I got it working by installing older drivers.  Yeah, I had it on OpenGL so I think the problem was the newer driver.  I was using 6.7.

Flipside, you can lower the blooming(?) effect by changing one line of code in HDRish.  I brought it down to around half and it looks great.

Re: HDRish Smartshader...
Do a search for hdrish-lite, that's the one you'll probably be more than fine with. Another thing is that omega drivers come with ati tray tools, which is one of the reasons it makes smartshaders easier. psscontrol2.exe was the name of the exe i used when i was loading smartshaders, perhaps there's more than one version of psscontrol? Or i'm victim to some other users naming scheme.
I should get radiance ghost affect. oh **** wait i can't, i've gone nvidia :blah:
