Descent books by Peter Telep
Who here has read them... or even heard of them? Bestselling game, largely ignored books.... I assure you people the books are worth reading!

That's what everyone says.....  :sigh:

They basically expand (a lot) on the D3 story, with one volume corresponding with each game. They start planting the seeds for Dravis's rise to power at Lunar Mine MN0012 (Level 1 in the original Descent), though, not just in the third one.

Re: Descent books by Peter Telep
I've read the first two a few years ago, though sadly I have either misplaced or lost them... a shame because now I really want to read them again.

I definately recommend them to any Descent fan.  They are, in my honest opinion, excellently written, and portray the events and characters exactly as I would imagine them to be.  Heck, I'd even recommend the books to those who have never even heard of the game.  I really did think they were that good. :)

Of the two I read, I think "Stealing Thunder" was my favorite.

You didn't read Equinox?  Shame. St. John reunited with Bonnie and Harold (that was funny), acid weapons, Pyro GX Mk II, Sierra Taurus as a Guide Bot.... you missed a lot.

The bookstore wasn't able to get Equinox at the time, so I settled on getting just the first two.  I'll definitely be buying the whole set of them again one of these days though. :)
Benjamin St. John is teh awesome. :D

Some of the series characters don't think so:

"Everyone looked positively annoyed to see him.
Harper wore the deepest frown. 'Ben, what are you doing here?'
'Oh no,' Bonnie groaned, 'Here we go.'
'C'mon, St. John,' Harold said, 'Don't interfere.'
Ben returned a wry smile. 'Good to see you all too.'"

Above quote from Equinox, pg.153.

Re: Descent books by Peter Telep
Whee, I just ordered the whole set, and will be recieving them in a couple weeks. :D
Anyway, I noticed that Peter Telep has quite a few other sci-fi books out.  I'm especially curious about his "Red Planet".  Anybody read or know anything about it or his other books?

I've got Descent but haven't read any of the others in the series. Now that you mention it they were definitely excellent and I think I'll look into checking them out again.
