It appears to have been beaten.

It was called the Columbia Virus, I activated it from a Visual Basic script I thought was something else. It promptly started duplicating copies of itself named as other files on the system, and making those files hidden so that it looked like it'd overwritten them. I think I killed it by ctrl/alt/deleting the script and then deleting every .VBS file on the computer.

If anyone's run into this before and knows I've done the right/wrong thing then please tell me - I don't want to go through this again!
