It's just the largest power of 2 that is less than your postcount.

Kind of a measure of how senior a member is. Though it isn't foolproof. I post a lot, so my "rank" is much higher than some who joined the same time I did. (I joined in January '06, BTW)


You can usually assume that someone with a postcount rank of >10 has been here a long time though.

It doesn't mean much really. Someone who has 2^9 may only have half as many posts as someone with 2^10, if you think about it.

I also kinda miss the ship ranking system.  I was about 10 posts away from being a Valkyrie when the switch happened.  Oh well. The powers of 2 system is cool, too.
