Ukraine may be thousands of miles away from Egypt, but archaeologists there say they have found pyramids.

It is claimed that the monuments have been uncovered in the east of the country and that they predate the pyramids in Egypt.

But the claim that there is evidence of pyramids is being disputed. The prestigious Academy of Sciences has sent its own expert to the dig.

It believes that this could be the Ukrainian version of Stonehenge.

This could be one of the most exciting archaeological discoveries in recent years.

It is claimed that pyramids are buried underground in eastern Ukraine. A team digging at a site near to the city of Luhansk has unearthed a huge religious complex.

It has uncovered remains which are believed to date back thousands of years.

The archaeologists say that clay plates, weighing each at least two tonnes, were arranged in circles and plastered over.

It is thought that it will take years for archaeologists to uncover the hidden truth.

In the meantime, tourism chiefs are keen to cash in and are already planning to open a hotel nearby.

They claim to have found pyramids in my old homecountry Bosnia and Herzegovina too so probably this has some kind of connection

when are people gonna realize that humans hve been building things for longer than we think they have. it is my opinion that civilization is at least twice as old as we think it is. there are of underwater ruins in places that havent been dry for around 10000 years, pyramids everywhere. any ancient scientific data concerning such thing was destroyed by the inquisition. any legend or fokelore references are typically ignored.

I wish people would realise why ancient cultures built pyramids.

Until you've made certain technological advances a pyramid is the only thing you can build on a large scale. Nothing else is stable.

Sure....during several periods in human history, great volumes of scientific and historical data were destroyed because they contradicted one religion or another.  We'd know more about ourselves and earlier civilizations if people didn't go around destroying that stuff so readily.

I honestly hope that the next time that sort of thing happens...someone puts as much knowledge as they can away and buries it somewhere safe for a while.

With Ukraine and Bosnia uncovering pyramids, I wouldn't be surprised if they pieced together the existance of a fairly advanced civilization inhabiting Eastern Europe and the Balkans. Or maybe it's all just a coincidence, given the somewhat flimsy scientific basis for the research of the Bosnian pyramid.
