My condolences too. The thing is, that not only Arafat must be shot, there are other people also, both sides. An Israeli paper said that the murder of one of the members of Hamash(sp?) was planned by Saron to provoke attacks by the terrorists.

I guess peace is bad for both sides.

Incredible that, in a time when we've shown our capablility at "dismantling" terrorists AND the nations that host them that they would pull this stunt while we're still riled up.

Why in the world would America respond? Our government doesn't give a pair of fresh roasted chicken's balls in feces about anything but itself- Israel and US citizens included- look at the national news, particularly stories involving the untold hundreds of people arrested for things like being related to foreigners, the "Patriot Act", and us dropping bombs on more Afghan civilians- we only helped Israel when it made us look good, and now we apparently don't care about looking good- and I use "we" in the broadest sense, as the only reason I'm not outta here is 'cause I can't meet the qualifications for a Netherlands citizenship.

What is this world turning into?

The world hasn't really changed so its not really turning into something else.  This kind of conflict has been going on for thousands of years.  The names and the way people get killed do change, but the rest remains pretty much the same.

It seems as if things are worse now than before, but thats pretty much just perception.

In the 60's it was the US and Russia pointing nukes at each other (and like they aren't still pointed), in the 18th Century it was Napoleon rampaging through Europe, in the 17th Century it was Protestants and Catholics beating the crap out of each other, burning villages, and rampaging about the countryside.  And forgive me if I've missed something major or something important, but I think it all goes to serve my point that nothing has really changed.

It'd probably be a nice thing if it did and we could actually accomplish something positive as an entire species.

Maybe World War 2?  Wasn't really terrorist actions but shows how stupid A LOT of people are.  That one man can convince all these people that the Jews were to blame for WWI.  I've read a biography on Hitler and he didn't blame the Jews for WWI in his mind but hated them because they stood out to him.  He said at one point.  "You could tell a Jewish person from the rest of the people in the city."  To him they were not Germans.

Yeah, I'm back safe and sound. I was actually in the US when the bombings occurred, but my best friend's wife had just gone up to her apartent downtown when one of the bombs went of below. She's ok, though.

Yeah, the US could probably do more about this. Although if you think about, every country is like that (if they do another nation a favor it is in their own interest somehow); just the way international politics works...

what the US did in Afghanistan was not really the right thing to do - instead of breaking all known international laws, they should have actively supported the NA. I say this because , if viewed in a slightly different perspective it amounts to US bullying. Where would the US stop - would they bomb the West bank now? Or Sri Lanka , or Kashmir right here? And on whose side will they be? Will they bomb our state of Andhra Pradesh which is becoming the new IT centre in India because of Govt. forces fighting militants called Naxalites like they did in Kosovo - or bomb our war torn North East , where China and Berma supply arms to warring factions who seek independant homelands? There is a limit to US envolvement everywhere , and in the past they have crossed these limits in a very disturbing way. I hope you all dont ban me or kill me for speaking against your country, but I felt I must share my view with you all too.
