If only the FSPort used the classic ending to the FS1 campaign. IMO the... "impact"... was better, at one time I actually got nightmares after constantly seeing the Luci getting stuck halfway during the jump and then detonating...
So long as you have the FS1 movies in your Port mod folder, you'll still see the "classic" ending in its proper place, along with every other cutscene from the campaign. If you're referring to the bonus mission after "Good Luck," one of the main reasons for that being there is to allow said ending cutscene to be shown; due to a certain hard-coded function in the FS2 source, the only cutscenes you're able to play at the true end of a campaign are the FS2 ending movies. Plus, it makes for a cool flyable credits sequence.

To answer the original question, I still fire up a game of FS1 from time to time to play missions/campaigns that haven't been Ported. However, due to the 640x480 resolution, I'm always overwhelmed by TEH GREEN!!1 of the HUD whenever I first start to play.
