The link for the Launcher 5.3 download seems to be broken.  Is there anyplace to get it besides here:

That is always the link to the newest version of the Launcher (currently at 5.4).

It's not final though.  There will probably be at least one new multiplayer specific settings change before 5.5 will actually be declared an official release.

So why, when the VP files were updated on Oct. 19, wasn't an extra minute taken to update the launcher in the 3.6.7 download?  *downloads 5.4 and checks to see if that cures 3.6.9 RC7 of deleting flags.lch then *****ing about it's non-existence*

Nope. Now it complains about OpenAL missing, then deletes flags.lch and complains it can't open the file it just deleted.

To be honest I don't know why we still have it stickied. Far better to simply post an explaination of what the RC builds are and how to install them. If we stop inlining new builds half way down a thread simply telling people to go to the recent builds forum and pick the newest 3.6.9 RC build is more likely to be the right thing to do than downloading 3.6.7 will ever be.

How about deleting olde threads with links to olde versions? That'll prevent people from wandering off into the historical section of the SCP...

We can do it in 30 seconds IF you don't butt in every five seconds. I spent six months on an ISP helldesk and developed a twitch in my left eyebrow (that took over a month to quit) from dealing with people that literally did not know left from right or up from down. If you've never spent an hour walking a person through entering DNS numbers and setting up Outlook Express, you don't know the meaning of 'Helldesk'.  I give exact directions and I like _getting_ exact directions that don't go off about five other ways that have the same end result.
