LOS ANGELES -- A Boy Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, etc., etc. He is also respectful of copyrights.

Boy Scouts in the Los Angeles area will now be able to earn a merit patch for learning about the evils of downloading pirated movies and music.

The patch shows a film reel, a music CD and the international copyright symbol, a "C" enclosed in a circle.

The movie industry has developed the curriculum.
"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside

There are still enough boy scouts to make a difference?

This is so unlike the Boy Scouts. They're usually such a free-thinking organization.

How come I'm starting to think of Carnivorous Letter C every time Copyrights are mentioned?

But hey, that would be a kick-ass scout patch: Carnivorous Copyrighted C chewing a pirate... :mad2: :nervous:

Re: MPAA & the boy scouts
Is it really? A congregation of boys around a campfire, all sleeping together out in the nature.

I don't think it gets any more gay than that.

Re: MPAA & the boy scouts
Well I'd assume under the setting, that's what they'd be doing. I was contemplating the amount of gayness one can score on the "Richter scale of Homosexuality" regarding the setting, not the actual act of being gay, because I was fairly sure everyone knew what "gay" entails.

So the Boy Scouts are being taught that downloading music and movies without paying for them is wrong and deprives people of money?

Sounds horrible.
Spoon - I stand in awe by your flawless fredding. Truely, never before have I witnessed such magnificant display of beamz.
Axem -  I don't know what I'll do with my life now. Maybe I'll become a Nun, or take up Macrame. But where ever I go... I will remember you!
Axem - Sorry to post again when I said I was leaving for good, but something was nagging me. I don't want to say it in a way that shames the campaign but I think we can all agree it is actually.. incomplete. It is missing... Voice Acting.
Quanto - I for one would love to lend my beautiful singing voice into this wholesome project.
Nuclear1 - I want a duet.
AndrewofDoom - Make it a trio!

Heh, yeah, must go with Nuclear on this one, Boy Scouts has always been about teaching 'good society skills' to youths in the guise of having fun, no-one would raise an eyebrow if they got an 'I don't shoplift' badge for example....

Enough with the boy scout flaming, if you guys are so pathetic that you're actually going to joke (or seriously believe) that being a scout = homosexuality then you can leave right now before I have to ban you. Yes BlackDove, I'm talking to you.

As for this anti piracy badge... well it's a fairly inoffensive way of trying to teach people not to steal software/music/whatever. If they think it'll have any major effect on the amount of people who download stuff then they're mistaken, but it's not something I can see as worth getting wound up over.

I don't quite give a **** who you're talking to.

My hypothesis that boy scouts are the perfect breeding grounds from turning latent homosexuality into active should be fairly on point. Not to mention it can also be used as a guiding stone for people to sway towards homosexuality before trying heterosexuality.

And it's your own fault if you assume that me outing boy scouts is any kind of "flaming". I don't recall saying homosexuality is a bad thing. If you think so though, that's your own god damn problem.

Now either ban me for no good reason whatsoever (well... maybe you can ban me on account that I'm off topic, I see that's a grave crime around here) so you can have your show of power or get the **** out of my face.

Hmm I wonder if I said "****" and "****" enough times to show my contempt for "The Man" clueless about what his business should be...

Now that's another thing to contemplate. I guess I'll have time for that after this post.

Well, that was... refreshing.

My objection to this badge is that it seems to have corporate sponsorship - where does that end?
