Yep! I was playing Freespace2 for the #@! time.   In sm2-06 the GTVA Colossus warps in and destroys a few warships... now I order all ships to ignore my target (which was NTCv Danton) and to my surprise the Colossus ceased fire and I was wondering what the hell was going on! I would assume that the comm panel would only work for fighters and bombers. So when I told all ships to attack the NTCv Danton, the Colossus brought all beam turrets to bear and ripped the Danton to pieces.

ya, sometimes if ships dont have specific orders, All Fighters command will actually work on capships, even attack my target.

Well, the radar arrays can detect enemy ships but they can't really do anything about them...

Wow, I thought everyone knew about this bug by now. Yes, attack/ignore orders to ALL propagate to capships, even ones with orders disabled. This is even documented in the Beam FAQ.

why?  this isn't a modding topic, this has everything to do with freespace/freespace 2, doesn't it?
