The democrats really don't seem to have had any solid base or platforms after the split of the New Deal coalition and the republican ascendancy in the 60s and 70s.

The republicans strength is that they have a strong well defined platform, and a pretty strong voting base (falters at times).

Personally, I think both parties should be disbanded. and a new coalition formed with the interests of the people at hand, not the corporate aristocracy.

Anyway, ofcourse the dems are split.  This generation of Dems is completely inexperienced, and they have no real plan for anything.  This may be a bad analogy, but they're just like a guy who gets his first warehouse store membership.  No real plan, but it's guaranteed that he'll leave with mostly stuff he doesnt need or otherwise want, and come home to an angry wife. 

Plus, Half of em are bat **** insane, and thus support that nutter Pelosi, and the other half are relatively intelligent.

Bat **** insane (far left), naive (moderately left), Indifferent (dead center), selfish (moderately right), and soulless power monger (far right).

Granted, this is a cynical and probably hateful view on humanity, but it doesnt make it any less true.

As for pelosi being a nutter, her ideas are absurdly stupid (lets pull all troops, and not worry about a plan), and she is definitely not mild mannered or civil.  They say the craziest of people speak the loudest, silencing the voices of the majority.  From what I've seen over the past couple weeks, if there's anyone who will ruin the democratic party, it will be her.

Now Kaz... what have we said about ad hominem attacks and personal insults?  Ease off.  Either debate politics with Scuddie, or don't bother.  If you don't feel his post is worthy of a response, then don't give him one.  He gave you a reason why he thinks Pelosi is nuts (she wants an immediate withdrawal from Iraq without a plan), and that she takes prominence and attention away from the conservative or moderate Democrats recently voted in and back toward the far left.

Pelosi is only part of the problem.  Murtha is probably the worst threat to the US military, being vehemently anti (iraq)-war, and anti-military.  When would Murtha want to pull out?  Yesterday.  What does Murtha call our troops? Murderers. What plan does Murtha, let alone ANY Democrat have about after pullout?  (Insert puzzled looks and uncomfortable silence here)  Democrats = Bad for the military, Bad for defense of the nation, and Good for other terrorist/militant groups who want to see the United States dissappear. 

Oh, not to mention that a few top senators there are just as corrupt as some are over on the right, doesnt do very well for thier image.  Hoyer's got a history, Harry Reid has a history, which is still ongoing with some land deal in Nevada.  Mmm-Hmm.  That's who I want running my country.
