No, he was an just some ancient dude who was fighting the goa'uld in babylonian times. Weren't of the ancients killed by that plague on the time-machine planet? And I'm sure that the Asguard said something about them going even further away than the Asguard had travelled or something like that.

I wanna know who made the replicators.

the asguard ship getting is ***  whipped? what reality are you living in man - goauld whipped teh tolans ***  but the still wouldn't attack earth directly casue they are s**t scared of the asguard - the asguard rule

anyway as the the escaping ship yes they were shot down but they had ships on patrol and stuff some long way out rmemeber the episode where oneil and tealc are stuck in that glider flying out into deep space they said they had no there furthest out ship was about a just over a year away but when the tollan were first on earth the said that a ship wouldn't be able to get to them within there life time - now thats an obvious contradition so i will just assume the're drive were improved obviously not as good as the asguard as they can whip from one galaxy to another in seconds but still if they hadn't been imprved that much the ship must still have been along way from tollana - arghh ok i know there are som holes in the logic but i think they had ships not in system when teh goa'uld attacked

The reason Tollan ships sucked was because the Tollan never ventured to other planets much. Still doesn't explain why they didn't just send a cloaked bomb upto the Goa'uld ship when Tanith left.

I think Anubis will kick some Asguard ***  before he's taken down. After all, he probably got a lot of Tollan tech before he wiped them out. (presuming it was Anubis and not Osiris).

I'm betting on the Anubis and replicator storylines coming together at some point. That'd be kinda cool. Uber-Goa'uld vs Replicators.

hmm yup of was it the week before his name was mentioned - think it was last week and this week we saw what they are upto =( but anyway noooooooooway cant the gouald have any chance against the asguard - they are completely outclassed - the tollan are completely outclassed by the asguard - on the the 4 races of the allinace were at that level of tech hell even tehre littl holo projectors can withstand a staff blast lol - the asguard are just going to be having trouble with teh replicators - i dont think they are going to be involved much

ohh heres the first version of the stargate with teh serioulsy dogey chevrons but otherwise i'm reasonably happy but it only has 24 symbols not 36

Well, since I only get to see Stargate in syndication, this has been quite an enlightening thread.

Can't say I'm sad to hear about the Tollan though. Sounds like their isolationism and superiority complex finally caught up with them.

you know, KMN, I'm sure there's a lot of front shots of the SG. Why don't you use one as a map for your model? There's no better texture than an actual shot, believe me.

cheating? look at XWingAlliance, they scanned models. look at any detilled infantry simulator: scanned pics.
Well, anyway, it's up to you  
For my part, I aim at the best quality available, and anyway it still requires work to make it look good, it has to match stuff right, have the right brightness etc

the problem would be matching up things exactly - i would be forced to get the symbols exactly right etc and i was plannin on cheating with at least some of them and just have afew repeated several times except off cource the earth symbol =)

what's the pb? ok, the basic shape of the thing is a perfect ring right? get the pic, cut it so you have the circle matching the edges of the bitmap. apply a planar UVmaping to the object et voila. Then find a side view, apply it to the edges of the mesh with cylindrical UVmapping, X tiling x4 ( maybe not X tiling, but one of them anyway), and so on

that might work fora  very plain gate but i want of the detail in the model not the texture

8th chevron I know about... 9th chevron? What does that do? Send you into a different universe or something?  

Oh, and btw, how come regular Stargates only have the 7? If functionality for 9 is there, why are there only 7 on all the ones SG-1 have visited? (Maybe the Asgard have the extras... I wasn't paying attention at the end of The Fifth Race)
