[rant]Can someome please do me a favour and kill every frickin' wasp on the planet. I just got stung by one of the bad tempered little critters for absolutely no reason whatsoever. Eddie Izzard was right about wasps. Kill the [beep]ers. They contribute nothing to the world except a bad attitude.[/rant]
Be warned: This site's admins stole 100s of hours of my work. They will do it to you.

meh. the venom gives such a nice high and all.

also, almost every pest insect species has a wasp species that is predator or parasite upon it.

Correction: Wasps are like bees with laser beams attached to their heads.

Man killer? How big is it (though size does not matter)?

I heard that Hornets (not wasps) spray acid on the cut after injecting their poison... Is that true. :nervous:

It's about two inches long.

Check it out, it has more than enough information. I'm just glad they're not to be found where I live!

Yeah, nasty little devils, I already knew they had one of the most painful stings known to man, though I didn't know the actual poison was less fatal than a Honey Bee. Wierd.

 Count me in!

I've been stung by a wasp, I think, twice or so when I was maybe like 5 years old (and in the neck, none the less). After that I've had a terrible phobia against the damn things.  :shaking:

If you can name a wasp/relative to them, and it's native to North America, I've probably been stung by it.

I had a real bad phobia of the bastards when I watched my grandmother almost die from an allergic reaction, when I was six or something.  I've been stung quite a few times since then though, and now, meh, don't really care.  :p  Last time I was stung by a wasp I was four-wheeling, bastard got me right below the Adams Apple, I feel lucky.

I'd really like to know what is their natural predator/parasite, if they have any.

Who needs a predator?  I've got an arsenal of rocket-propelled Raid-on-Crack in my basement for the little buggers.

Well I recently learnt that hornets ****ing go to town on honey bees.

There's a video floating around MySpace or YouTube or something of about 10 hornets attacking an entire hive of honey bees. The bees get wiped out.

As for what attacks hornets? Not much I don't think.

Here is the aforementioned clip about Hornets vs. honeybees. Very well made film, I saw it in television once and it was rather freaky.
