Some Relationship Advice?
Ok. Straight to the point. You guys are nerds, so you've had braces. There is a slight chance youve actually had a girlfriend during this time.... :p I need some advice here.  ;)

How do you french kiss with braces???

Please, serious responses...  :)

Find a girl who's a masochist? Or one who also has braces, and therefore a tongue as tough as yours?

Re: Some Relationship Advice?
if she also has braces you may get locked, then you pray your parents, and your orthodontist are understanding, I know enough people who this happened to to know that it can be funny as well as tragic

if she does not have braces, just don't, talk to her, discuss your concerns, discuss that you think this particular style of physical intimacy might be difficult and find some proxy activity, you don't need to shove tongues into each others mouths to have a relationship

no one ever wants to hear that answer

Re: Some Relationship Advice?
:wtf: I had braces for four years and never once had a problem, I had a perfectly active social life.

The thing about locking etc is an urban myth. You don't use your teeth to kiss unless you are planning to bite her lips off.

This isn't really the place to be asking anyway, ask your orthodentist, and he/she will confirm it.

Kissing is an important part of the bonding process; love is based - and this isn't to downplay its importance and value as an emotional rollercoaster of feelings - on the drive for reproduction, and physicality (for lack of a better description) is an important (reinforcing & increasing it) part of that developing closeness.  Actions, after all, speak louder than words - and, franlkly, I'd be worried about a relationship without that set of urges.

Re: Some Relationship Advice?
Ah, kissing with braces.  I'm worried about kissing all the time too (I am wearing braces too if you guys remember my braces thread a year ago).  However, I think you should be fine if you stay gentle.  Tilt you head slightly (like you normally would when kissing someone on the lips) and place your lips softly on hers.  Gently kiss her with the 'nibbling' moment (very gently) and when you get more comfortable, you can explore a bit with your tongue.  Bear in mind, being gentle is the key :D  You are more likely to cut yourself if you're being rough (plus you would scare her when she could feel your braces).

I often get more cuts having quick pecks on my nephews' cheeks because the kisses are always too quick and hard.  Anyway, just relax, be gentle and enjoy :D

Re: Some Relationship Advice?
Exactly, unless you're trying to bite someones face off it's really not a problem. I suffered more from cuts on my gums from the wires than from any problems kissing.

Re: Some Relationship Advice?
My first kiss was right after my braces got removed so I don't know. (just 4 weeks ago)

However, one of my best friends told a story about one of her best girlfriends was kissing her boyfriend. And they both had braces... I'm guessing you know what happened, they both got stuck to each other and eventually one of them grabbed a pencil and used it as a crowbar between them :P

Re: Some Relationship Advice?
You see, this is odd, I was wearing braces for over 4 years and knew absolutely no-one who had this problem. The teeth are behind the lips so I dread to think how these people were kissing.

Re: Some Relationship Advice?
These braces... are they this sort?

If so, French kissing may prove a problem regardless of what anyone says.
