Re: Anyone remember that stuff called snow?
Weird, here in Portugal we're having abnormal cold compared to other winters. Some places have negative celsius.

Unfortunatly snowing here is a true christmas miracle.  :sigh:

Nothing in the DC area yet, although we rarely get any snow here before the end of the year.

Here in Vancouver, we generally don't get much snow but we had record snow fall this year in November.

Here in Michigan we got almost an inch back in mid-October.

Of course, there is nothing here right now. It sucks, too because it's just above freezing.

I live in Michigan too... High for Detroit area is like 52 today. I think I'll take a walk.  :)

Re: Anyone remember that stuff called snow?
El'Nino is your true culprit. With that el'nino in place we have a slight chance of seeing snow in the south Christmas night. :D
When El Nino is the norm, instead of a once and a while occasional thing, it's called a climate change.  What was El Nino becomes the norm,  and the "norm" is then called El Nino.  It's global warming.  El Nino is what I think of as the "preview" of what the weather will become impermanently over time.

It's summer. Three days ago I was swimming in the top end. Today I'm hanging out in shorts and T shirt here in rural WA. On Boxing Day, if I can swing it, I'll be at the beach.

This year, both Groundhog Day and the State of the Union Address occurred during the same week.  This is an ironic juxtaposition of events--one involves a meaningless ritual in which we look to a creature of little intelligence for prognostication, while the other involves a groundhog.

Re: Anyone remember that stuff called snow?
Never have seen snow, and I don't think I will, aslong as I live in Florida. And if you think 10°C is warm Rictor.. That's about as cold as it gets down here, and people dress up like it's another ice age, I just wear jeans and a T-Shirt though.  :p

But in Canada.. I've always heard of it being an ice age up there So it's understandable. Right now it's... 89°F, I **** you not. Warm huh?  :nervous:

Edit: Holy Crap, I need to reconsider my carrer ambitions, I totally forgot El Nino was active, and I want to be a Meterologist.

Re: Anyone remember that stuff called snow?
Canada, at least not Southern Ontario, is not an iceage...but we're getting further from that than ever before.  When I was young we'd have nice big snowbanks from about late November/early December until March when things started to thaw out a bit.  We've had so much rain that the grass out my window is still somewhat green (although a bit spotty).  In the summer we can easily compete with Florida for temperature if not for humidity.

Yeah...I remember that I used to be able to make snowmen.  I suspect that by the time I have children, doing such a thing will be basically impossible.

Re: Anyone remember that stuff called snow?
I recall a couple of weeks ago in the outskirts of DC, we got a massive but highly localized "blizzard" that lasted 5 minutes.  The wind picked up to ~40mph and sheets of snow crystals were flowing across the ground.  It looked as if it was a storm in the antarctic.  Was hilarious to see everyone on the streets just pause and go "URH, what the hell!?"
Aside from that, though, there's been no "winterish" weather to speak of around here.  Hope this sort of thing doesn't become more common in the future.  :(

Look out! *points* The global warming is right behind you!!!  *runs around screaming*
