Well, I certainly enjoyed enabling the Erinyes' cockpit. Added VERY much to the gameplay

A pity things got harder through it (the struts should only be 1/2 or 1/3 as thick, me thinks, but well...) .
So if the Mod is released with the option for cockpit-on and cockpit-off, I'd propably first play it without cockpits, to get it completed, and another time (or at least some missions) with cockpits enabled to get more immersion out of it.
And really, even with still using the old FS-style cockpit overlayed, having a cockpit felt much more like being in a fighter... without it, I sort of have the impression piloting a shooting point

As for the Wing Commander games... I liked the cockpits in WC1, WC2, Academy and Armada, but in WC3 I always turned them off - they were in the way and they also somehow didn't feel right to me... In WCP though, they are fine again

. And as far as WC4 goes, the no-cockpit-view there looked quite a bit better then the one in WC3, I'd say.
And for -fov... I like to play with -fov 0.90 , as this feels even more immersive, but for comparing to my old highscores and for online-play I
have to turn it off, because I somehow can't really adapt to the aiming-changes
