Re: Most Recognizable Freespace Dialogue?
You did not have authorization to return to base, pilot. Your actions jeopardized the lives of those involved in this mission and the GTVA's objectives in this theatre...

I listened to that 5 times every mission... :P
I love it when there are no friendlies left to support you (including your wingmen), and you've got between 1 and 10 percent hull integrity, with like six bogies on your tail, and you jump out to be scolded by Command about your cowardice jeopardizing the GTVA... it's even more ironic if the great Alpha 1 does manage to pull it off, and, once again, no mention is made that no-one that flew with him ever made it back home... :ick:  Instead, Command is just happy the mission was accomplished.  I should put in a suggestion to somehow change that behaviour a bit...

Your instructor is not a valid target, pilot.

What's fun is turning traitor and STILL accomplishing all mission objectives... with all friends and enemies trying to kill you!

I, on one of the missions of FreeSpace, destroyed every hostile and friendly craft. :P

It's fun turning traitor, then the game forgets you're a traitor!!

Oh, did you know that if you tell your wingmen to form on your wing and then you turn traitor, they'll never fire upon you!!

Re: Most Recognizable Freespace Dialogue?
?!!

Really? Wonder why that is?

Re: Most Recognizable Freespace Dialogue?
same reason why they're idiots and don't defend THEMSELVES when told to defend a ship.  They just sit in formation around the ship they're defending and let the enemy blow them up.
Could we with ink the ocean fill, and were the skies of parchment made
Were every stalk on earth a quill, and every man a scribe by trade
To write the love of God above, would drain the ocean dry
Nor could the scroll contain the whole, though stretched from sky to sky!

Just an observation, don't get mad, but why are you always so bitter, BlackDove?

I'm a Pirate.

Yarrgh.

Oh. Well, I guess that's okay then.

Re: Most Recognizable Freespace Dialogue?
Actually some of your orders take high priority over others; Form on my Wing takes very high priority as it is necessary for some missions. It would really suck if they turned around and made you loose the mission again and again and again and again.

"More Firepower Colossus!.. you know the rest.." - High Noon 'course

"Alpha 1 get a Visual Identification of the Unknowns. Do not open fire" - Out of The Darkness, Into the Light.. I think..

"Pilots you've only got a few minutes left, hurry!" - Good Luck, he just sounds like a baby there....

"So Much for a Quiet Patrol......" - Tenderizer

Oh.. I could go on forever with FreeSpace Quotes and not even go into FreeSpace 2... even though I did...

Re: Most Recognizable Freespace Dialogue?
Where was that from?

My favorite was:

"Damnit Actium! Watch that friendly fire!"

and commands responce made me lose whatever respect I might have had for them....
"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside

Wow, you had respect for command then?

I mean, it's like the who is talking is making the desicions, Alpha! Protect x Transport/Freighter/CapShip with little or no backup, and let us yell at you when we lose some of our ships! That was mainly FreeSpace 2 though :P

FreeSpace 1 guy was smart.

Re: Most Recognizable Freespace Dialogue?
Vasudan Commander of GVD Psamtik :-

"As you wish.....

Gunnery control, open fire!"

And for multiplayer ; it was a famous co-op mission:-

"Alpha 1 and Alpha 2, take out the weapons subsystem. Alpha 3 and 4, knock out as many beam cannons as you can. Make sure your cyclops' hit home boys! Beta, cover alpha. Delta, engage at will. Lets rip em open boys!"

We whooped the shivans big time.

The GTA Junit said that, but it was the Tatenen that was roasted.

Then Command says: "The Tatenen has been destroyed, I repeat the Tatenen has been destroyed!" then "All units return to base! We do not have the firepower to challenge that warship!" Command was finally right for once. :P

Finally... the only other thing they do right is to send in Alpha 1 when things heat up!
