Re: How'd you find the hlp?
It's actually been so long that I don't exactly remember. I think signed up once under another name before I was Flipside, but then re-joined about a year later under a new ISP.

I might have got here from Sectorgame, that's the most likely.

Found link on SCP site.
If in your opinion there's no difference beetwen "Master Game" and "Game Master", I can only feel for you.

Freespace Oracle.

I can't quite remember when I found it, but it was a considerable amount of time before I registered. I didn't really lurk or anything, I just used it to get the HOTU version.

Re: How'd you find the hlp?
I was spending some time on GameFAQs's forums, and looked at the forums for FS2. One topic was talking about Inferno. I inquired as to what Inferno was and they pointed me here.

Re: How'd you find the hlp?
My computer came with an FS2 demo. Years later I googled FS2 on a whim and found this place.

Oddly, my demo seems to have more missions than the demo listed on the wiki. I can't remember where it ends, but I clearly remember the defence of Enif Station in it. Also, when you wanted to quit, it displayed two advertisement screens, including an ugly picture of a Vasudan in a flightsuit.
Interestingly enough, this signature is none of the following:
A witty remark on whatever sad state of affairs the world may or may not be in
A series of localized forum in-jokes
A clever and self-referential comment on the nature of signatures themselves.

Re: How'd you find the hlp?
I found it looking at the SCP site. Which I found looking at the Wikipedia entry on FreeSpace. Which I found because I wanted to see what Wikipedia said about my favorite game. Which I found in a package on my birthday. Which I asked for. Because I thought FreeSpace: The Great War (and even Silent Threat) was so awesome. Which I got at Best Buy for $14. Because it was a sequel to Descent. Do not argue with it being in the Descent series!

  • A one hit wonder, you still want to touch this.
Re: How'd you find the hlp?
I'd just say it's a sequel as in the continuing of the descent name used to sell games. Of course everyone probably knows the descent name was for sales in the fs arena.
But, the descent name on fs1 definitely let you know it had something to do with the makers of descent in making fs1.

Re: How'd you find the hlp?
It all started when I found a space simulation on Gamespot that had a superb rating, exactly what I was looking for. From reading the reviews, viewing the screenshots, and most importantly playing the demo... I was hooked with FS2.

I bought the game from Amazon a few months later. For nearly two years I played the game off and on, never losing interest. It wasn't until I graduated from high school that I became curious; I wanted to know if there were any updates or mods that I could use to make FS2 look like a modern computer game. It wasn't until my first semester of college that I ran a search on Google and stumbled across some gorgeous pictures of what looked to be a high-poly GTF Perseus: http://fs2source.warpcore.org/wmcscreenies/derelict/index.php

Thanks to WMCoolmon's gallery, I found the HLP website and familiarized myself with the FSSCP universe.

Re: How'd you find the hlp?
Many years ago, I was a regular visitor to the Volition-Inc and Volition Watch forums, and there were many links to Hard Light Productions regarding user-made campaigns and Freespace discussion. I could never remember the URL, though.

Google search on the dreaded "Freespace 3" led me to the old SCP website. I found my way here from there.

I think I found it from some Homeworld forum sites three or so years ago.

Wikipedia link, and SCP

We are sorry to report that in 2007 Count Dracula was found dead in his mansion, due to extreme starvation.
