Re: I'm back... what'd I miss?
Leave Mackie's voice alone. Ransom did an excellent job with him, and I would hate to see his voice changed.
Ransom was a good voice actor, but not appropriate for Mackie in my opinion.  It was a bit of a shock to transition from the original loud, boisterous voice to the quiet, deliberate one.  One was outlandish, the other was contemplative.  Ransom's voice didn't fit the personality -- he would have been better for a covert ops type, like Faulkner.

And incidentally, I just realized the second-to-last mission was created by Kellan, not Agatheron. :nervous: I'll have to grep the campaign for Agatheron and choose from the missions that come up. :)

I did think Killer Rabbit and the mine mission were very clever.  I'm a FREDder too, so I definitely appreciate cool tricks like that. :)

I disagree. Ransom's interpretation was a lot darker and fit really well with the Lovecraftian-nightmare theme of Derelict. The original interpretation instead emphasised the (for lack of a better term) duct-tape theme of Derelict - equally as important, mind, but I personally prefer the darker, more cynical Mackie.

I liked pretty much all of the missions, for a variety of reasons - some have interesting design features, some have lots of explosions - but one of my favourites is 'The Wrong Door', where Alpha wing investigates the Nyarlathotep fleet's erratic movements in Tau Sigma. Really showed off the mystery and inhumanity of the Shivans, plus you get to hear Mackie freaking out over the size of the Shivan fleet right in front of him. Also, it lets you tick off the Shivan casualties in the following missions.

I said like Faulkner.  I didn't say that he should replace the guy who was Faulkner.  Just like I didn't say that Ransom wasn't a good actor.  You guys need to read more carefully. :p

You just need to learn how to love and forget how to hate. :p
