Star Trek: Enterprise.
Because I can, let us discuss Enterprise here.  Anyways, let me start off:  Enterprise I thoought was just a ok show in seasons 1&2, but I recently found that seasons 3&4 are rather good to Excellent.  Am I the only person thats feels that Enterprise was cancelled when it was getting really good?

Re: Star Trek: Enterprise.
Yeah they hired a really good writer that actually knew Star Trek for season 4. Season 4 was hands down the best season they did and actually pretty good Star Trek on the whole.

Of course it took a good Centauri (a Coto you know...) to write good Trek...

Re: Star Trek: Enterprise.
Usually trek takes a season or so, maybe a little more or less, to really get into a groove with its audience. Enterprise just had too little too late when it came to this I think, but I still enjoyed watching it.

Re: Star Trek: Enterprise.
Wasn't the third season about the Xindi? I never thought I'd say this about Trek, but that season was actually interesting. Though quite predictable.

4th season was too much about the heart breaking love affair between Trip the whiny chief engineer and Topol the busty vulcan sex dream. I mean, how whiny and annoying can a greasemonkey get?

I think the same about season 4 to a point, but i stop short of complete critisisim.

The reason why this is portrayed to give you the extra dimension of the first intergalactic love affair. and how it works out - but of course trip gets blown up and killed to save the crew from terrorists in the end, and known fully well if he had a little different future that child from a different dimension would of been theirs.

But there are other reason why i stop short, Because there is alot of fighting, destruction, and for couse Shran.
I can nott wait to watch it all again. it's all good because it's not like the other Star Trek series where everything is free and not enough tension. this has it. I was always wondering... what would happen to the Enterprise next? The Tholians come back? The Suluban destroy the ship? Or do the Romulans plan another mine test?. My 2 cents.

in order of overall quality. IMHO.
Enterprise.
DS9.
VOY.
Original.
TNG.

TNG was the best

TOS was a blast (I looked at it liek a comedy)

DS9 and VOY - utterly terrible (except for the battles)

ENT - what little originality it had was sucked out immediately.

Re: Star Trek: Enterprise.
Original was great, thought it cannot be compared to the others. It's just so classic. And only trek I actually like.

Enterprise is decent. No wussy shields to hide behind. Captain eyebrows isn't too afraid to kick ass when the opportunity arises.

TNG, DS9 and VOY are utter piss. They look like comedy, but aren't funny. Only good thing about them is that women wear stupid tight pajamas. But that is negated by the fact that men wear them too.

Re: Star Trek: Enterprise.
The only reason why i placed DS9 so high, because of Quark and Odo most of the time.

Voyager. i guess its good to see a woman like jeri ryan play as 7 of 9 ;). and there is good action through out with the borg and the occasional 8472 ship.

original so low. IMHO is was utter crap it was more stupid comedy then Trek, but then again who am i to complain over capatian Kirk pcking up a foam blocks prentding to be rocks and throw it at a Gorn. something i always laugh at.

TNG. is was the most boring thing i have ever watched.

Re: Star Trek: Enterprise.
TNG was the best...well...we had Picky there (Patrick Stewart) and Data :D
and most importantly, the episodes were consistent and coherent...and who can forget Q...

Then came DS9...a total rape of everything ST.. They massacred the Klingons (turning them into total wusses), the starfleet (how a wild gorilla like Sisko can be a Stafleet captain is beyond me) and pushed the tecnobabble and plot holes to a whole new level (a kazzilion newely discovered ways to time-travel anyone?).

VOY started out great, but then the writers totaly ruined it...again, time-travel galore, plot holes, technobabble..tehy even turned Q inot a wimp..a mere shadow of his former self...YUCK!

ENT...oh...the temporal wars...MY GOD! Whoever though of that should be shot in hte head, ressurected and shot again...REPEATEDLY!

Re: Star Trek: Enterprise.
I find it interesting to see so much hostility toward DS9, when I've been told that the Dominion War arc was the best that Trek ever got.  (I haven't seen enough of the series to form a judgment either way, sadly.)

Getting back to the original topic, the first two seasons of Enterprise were admittedly a bit slow, but the third was a lot of fun, and the fourth had some of the best Trek I've ever seen.  With the exception of the final episode, which was helmed by Rick Berman and Brannon Braga, Manny Coto was in charge of production for season 4, and he did some amazing stuff.  The mirror universe two-parter and Klingon explanation episodes were particularly amazing.

(Also, Picard is a sissy boy. Kirk all the way! :p)

In a nutshell. it's about Sisko vs Dukat. Prophets vs Pah Wraiths. Federation vs Dominion.

It's all about Dukat selling the Cardassian empire to the Dominion and the empire ends up regretting it, while Dukat find more suicidal deeds within the Pah Wraiths, shortly after he kills Jadzia Dax and an orb that kills the others off, except one.

Meanwhile Ben sisko is busy with the Klingons and the Dominion to worry until he finally understand what the prophets want him to do. Save the gods from the Pah wraiths... and Dukat.

At the same time the Federation launch an attack against the Dominion at Cardassia prime and when the Cardassian fleet learns that the dominion have leveled Lakarian city they swap sides. Shortly after it becomes a face off, until odo convices the leader of the dominion it's over.

Basically I'm going to have to go with the fact that DS9 was a departure from the formula. A space station doesn't do much trekking and all. However in my not-so-humble opinion DS9 as a whole was Trek at its best; the Dominion War arc is incredible, but the best bit requires you to have watched the original, un-cut pilot, then the Klingon attack on the station later.

They bluffed the Cardassians into thinking DS9 had 99 photon torpedo tubes and integrated phaser banks on every level in the pilot. Then a couple of seasons later we come back and DS9 does have 99 photon torpedo tubes and integrated phaser banks on every level, but the Klingons think it's a bluff. Nice little bit of continuity there.

I keep meaning to watch Enterprise now that it's on Sci-fi, but can't seem to find the will to turn the TV on unless it's for BSG.

StarTrek isn't too badly generally but it's punctured by moments of extreme cheeseyness that borders on the embarassing. It's a nice distraction if nothing sles is going on though.

Yeah, the whole TNG Holodeck episodes bugged me! Data and Picard playing at either Sherlock holmes or some obscure american private dick!  :snipe:

Yet in Voyager, the holodeck became a whole new ball game for that race of hunters, (I forget their name however) as they played war game after war game, granted in some episodes the holodeck also got cheesy! (That whole episode in an irish village anyone, all to give Captain Janeway a love interest that is unreachable  :ick: )
