Well here's a little something I found on my travels, it's an openGL based Lightcycle game. LightCycles

For those who didn't see the movie Lightcycles were a sort of futuristic motorcycle that left a wall behind them. The idea was to wall off your opponents with your trail using the most devious methods you could think of

It's a pretty addictive game. It's also been ported to Linux and *gasp* mac so there's no excuse for you not getting a copy (unless you're still running an apple II   ).

I remember Tron fondly; the 20th Anniversary DVD should be out very soon if it's not out already.

Dunno about the LightCycle game; I haven't DL'ed it yet. Is it any good?

Yeah, there's a site that seems to be promoting either the new Tron Game or Tron 2.0.

Its from the Tron 20th Anniversary DVD.

they could easilly outdo the original's breathtaking graphics (considering the very small amount of actual CG). They could not easily achieve the same amount awe. We've all seen Final Fantasy: the Spirits Within. TRON2.0 would have to raise the bar above FF:tSW to have that same impact. Not that they would have that same sense of 'reality'. TRON's visuals are notable for their surreality. It was almost computer Art/Deco.

Maeglamor: make sure you get the movie sound pack and the movie visuals pack for ArmageTRON. Also, you might want to go into your setup file for the game and run it at about   30 or 40 speed, so its actually challenging. Oh, and be sure to set the game to use first person view. Birds-eye/Camera-pan view makes it way too easy. First person view gives you the feeling of 'being there'.

Also, the TRON soundtrack has finally been released.

It's TRON-mania, I tells ya!

Oh, and for all you little whippersnappers, the "Light Cycles" game was around for a long, long time before TRON came out. It was originally a game called "Surround", released back in the 70's.

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill
