Truspace tutorials?
got any truspace 3.2 tutorials on uvmaping and other texturing things? I am in desperate need!

I would use lithium but I don't think you can add matrials with it. :wtf: I usulay use blender but once the model is in truspace it is one heck of a job to bring it back intact. if encase you can add matrials in lith, show me some good tutorials for it please.

If you UV map capships (using several basic tectures....like an Orion) then TS is excellent

For UV mapping a single detailed texture on a object - like a fihgter - either port it to MAX or use LithiumUnwrapper

i remember ts4 was completel adequit for my uv mapping needs. the uv mapping tools were horrid and you required a 3rd party unwrap plugin to actually see what youre doing. but i was able to uv some of my older ships with it. 5 and 6 actually have a decent uv editor similar to but not as good as the one in max, and about on par with lith.

Actually, a TS sub would be good under modding i guess. But would it bee viable based on traffic or the amount of questions asked, I couldn't say :confused:

Just model and unwrap with Blender. Truespace is ok for conversion. Blenders unwrapper is far more versatile than Lith. Lith is ok if you set up the model with different materials first.
Since you already use Blender, just use its unwrapper. It also has an auto unwrapper. If you do use that, then you may need to paint the first stage of the model with blenders paint tool, before you take the texture to Photoshop.

anyway i got to set the issue straight, no matter how bad truespace is, and il admit it, versions higher than 4 can be used to model complete ships. here il prove it


modeled and uved in truespace only!!!

its not the best way but with enough patience it can work. though theese days max is my perfered program.

So I take it that the model you want to unwrap is already in Truespace. If thats the case, the Wings3D unwraper won't be much use to you either.

Lith doesn't do the material part - Use Truespace for that. The materials are used to break the model up into sections. Export to Lith and unwrap each section based on materials. Once done import back into TS.

my point is simply that any version of truespace higher than 4 can do pretty much everything you need to create a working ship. its more a pain in the ass to deal with jumping from program to program struggling to convert something made in obscure modeling program #1932658, than it is to just deal with truespace.

Max is more obscure than Truespace  :lol:  :P

BTW in truespace (greater than 3.3) can you target weld vertices?

Understood.
But Topgun is using TS 3.2 and from what I've read, 3.2 + lith is the best option. I really only use TS to import Blender cobs for export to pcs.
