Kind of makes you fear the day the Shivans develop a support ship....  Perfect Bearbaiting run?  Victory in your grasp?  I don't think so.

Sort of reminds me of the fact that you can make anything warp in in fs. Cargo containers, the works, everything can warp in. Fs is pretty flexible in the areas you don't think about. And yeah it would be cool to fly the colossus. I'd like to kill some destroyers, but that war.zip thing is cool. Flying around as a deimos was killer.
Every pilot's goal is to rise up in the ranks and go beyond their purpose to a place of command on a very big ship. Like the colossus; to baseball bat everyone.

handles like a whale though. notice the other ships can pivot on their axis extremly fast, like a fighter, and your stuck in "space goo" for lack of a better phrase. meh, guess it's just ballancing

Re: Commanding the collusus?
ill have to try that, as for fighting,

In freelancer there was a handy thing for modded capitol ships called turret view. You pressed a button and looked around the ship withuot moving it, you could aim guns and fire them, move foward, enter cruise(faster then normal engines).

Is taht thing in fs?

Re: Commanding the collusus?
Techinically it is, but it's a lot more simplistic than that. When you target a fighter, you're guns go a blasting depending on which side of the deimos the fighter is on. After that you can use the pov buttons to switch to whatever region of the deimos you desire. Which would most likely be the side of the deimos that is blasting the guns at the figter you targeted. Of course you can do all of this while in motion, but it's recommended to choose your vector, do some blasting, choose another vector, and do some more blasting. You're flying a ****ing corvette, not a fighter, so you cannot fight the same.

On another note, if the deimos didn't have slashing turrets, you could get surgical on other capships and take out various subsystems and turrets really fast if those damn beams weren't slashers. You'd be able to make your target go retarded taking out all of all of the subsystems in view before you destroy it. Also the beams are really the only weapons you have absolute control over on the deimos anyway.

EDIT:
There was also a mission around here where you could play as a leviathen. And i thought that would be fun since it would be a more complete weapons platform. Missiles and everything else it has. Plus it's smaller, and it would be fun to play as a leviathen, that'd make the cruiser line effective.

Re: Commanding the collusus?
I have determined that arming a Leviathan with about 40 Maxims per turret on all turrets makes an excellent anti-fighter/bomber platform.

I made one mission for my Fenris campaign and packed it with the Merkar demo. Is that what you mean?

Re: Commanding the collusus?
ah yes, that was quite fun. one question though, how the hell can a support ship re-arm a deimos class? try it, it works.

Easy, dock and let your fellow slaves do the rest to carry the material to the right weapon slots ;-) ...

Re: Commanding the collusus?
I got the war.zip working but is there anyway to control individual turrets? Whats that PDS (point defense turrent?). Are you supposed to be able to control it? If so, how do I do so?

Re: Commanding the collusus?
All you're supposed to be able to do is to target enemies and let the Deimos's weapons do the dirty work.  It currently isn't possible to control individual turrets, although I believe a few people have come up with some scripting ideas which might eventually be used for a similar purpose.

Re: Commanding the collusus?
Someone made a really primitive target the enemy, and use your mouse to point the turrets while they fire.

Re: Commanding the collusus?
Unfortunately, last i heard, the "turrent" will have its aim off a lot once you move.

Oh, and yes I can spell turret correctly--it is just teasing MT.

Re: Commanding the collusus?
to actually do this properly you would have to be able to target multiple ships, which i don't believe is possible using the fs engine
