In December of this year we'll be at roughly 10 years since the first tidbits of information were made available about the all new Descent sequel which was supposed to open things right up, take away the walls, and throw us in to space.  Descent: FreeSpace and FreeSpace 2 is why were here and nearly ten years later, despite the industry moving along in a different direction, we're still here adding and making modifications to the game series.  Thats pretty impressive.

How many of you have realized how longs its been?  Is there any hope for space combat simulations in the same FreeSpace/TIE Fighter/Wing Commander vein?  What do you think the community should do to celebrate 10 years?

I suggest we organize chat room(s), prepare mod downloads, and spam as many news sites as possible for a 24-hour Freespace fest over the holidays.

I'd suggest that we don't only concentrate on FS but have a day for each of the major multiplayer mods. If we have a special day for it I suspect we could get large crowds even for mods like FS1Port, TBP or Inferno which don't have a big MP following.
