Re: How much to rent the Deathstar?
Military, so 1.5 billion dollars equivalent for an Orion.

50K/year (guesstimate), 150K/person, 10000 people. Not accurate, given inflation in the GTVA  :eek2:

Now, how much does a small moon cost?

Ha hem, High ranked officers are well payed. That number could be doubled.

Video of 84 Ursas with Helios and Maxims taking out one Sathanas.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CVEdypRB7bs

I know its dark and low quality.
Trust me. Those are Ursas. There are about 84 of them.

N00b. I took down the Gigas with only 12 Jotuns(no tricks, I don't even know how to use them...)

What everyone is forgetting is that Ursa was brand new at the time and probably came down in price. :)

I quote. This is the most intelligent comment so far(karajorma is karajorma). :) I'm not authorized to talk about INFA stuff but...I think that Snail took that comparison too seriously...affecting in an unusual way the tech description of a *certain* INFA Uber-bomber

And by the way, what do you intend for a "small moon"? Charon is a small moon("huge rock" is more appropriate). A huge quantity of bull**** could be considered as a small moon...meh...

Ugh, come on. I had to justify the creation of huge capital ships rather than the creation of the Z3105. Why create the Icanus if a few Z3105's can blow up the Gigas?

I find it painful that a few wings of bombers can so easily kill a destroyer. :doubt:

The Z3105? How can a single bomber cost more than...uhm...several cruisers from scratch?

Oh, Woo will kill us.

Depends. An Orion can be easily destroyed by a wing of Ursae, but a single interceptor can destroy that wing easily. Bombers are badly protected, their turrets are poor. :doubt:

Look.

The Zelos is the size of the Jotun. The Jotun was made 66 years after the Great War. The Zelos was made 15 years after. Kind of a technological explosion, huh?

Come on, some tech descriptions are stupid(GTG Zephyrus), others are poor(some Shivan fighters). The Ursa costs a lot just because of its dimensions. It doesn't seem to have "advanced systems" or an "excellent armor plating". It may cost like a small moon...if you also consider the loadout.

Since when the Jotun is supposed to cost as much as a wing of cruisers? And the Zelos is a heavier version of the Ursa. And many things happen in 15 years, expecially in Sol. ;)

How could the people in Sol, after 15 years, make something that took the GTVA 66 years to produce?

And who's trying to compare the Jotun to the Zelos?

And remember that, INF canon or not, the situation in Sol was different... in GTVA space, people were trying to start a new life. In Sol, people were preparing themselves for a war. The EA isn't canon, ok, but is realistic: a military-centered authority, perfect for that environment.

Re: How much to rent the Deathstar?
I bet some moons probably have enough resources on them to construct multiple Ursa bombers. Besides, the Ursa Bomber is a flawed design. The trio of gunmounts on the right side is so horribly placed they might as well remove it to reduce weight. They could have at least added a second turret mounted on its button side.

Just downloaded FS2, so I haven't used any new bombers, but the Ursa was the BEST bomber, by far, in FS 1. That side gun is perfect for chewing up larger ships. Compared to the Medusa, (which only had one gun mount anyway) and the Athena (which would have been great if it coulda carried Prometheus OR Tsunamis), the Ursa was the bomber of choice once it became available.

I think everyone is taking that quote a little too seriously. Personally, I believe it was hyperbole, merely stating that Ursas are/were really expensive.

The fact that the people is Sol were cut off from the rest of the GTVA and were mainly tring to prepare themselfs for an incoming shivan invasion means that they coul of achieved almost as much if not more in some areas as the GTVA did! Also let us not forget that some bommbers can cost a hell of a lot of money. Take current day bommbers there was some american bommber which was reported to cost something like 1 billion dolars. That is ridiculous!
Die shivan die!!

If this is going to influence the number of Zelos bombers faced in INFA...damn yes.

They were preparing for a total system war, they knew they would have never faced the Shivans again(I think).

And keep in mind that there are gigantic ships in FreeSpace...

actualy...an ursa would probably cost $30, 000 american dollars.

Any kind of price comparison is stupid. We can't shoot a price.

As I said, don't be stupid. We simply don't have the technologies necessary to build up an Ursa. Even with all the gold of the world, no one could have produced a B-2 during the First World War.
