I'm starting to come around again to modelling, slowly though...

Mh looks like a much more massive and robust version of the Midway and I have to say that I like what I am seeing so far.

Ya, the original seemed fragile.  BTW the funky coloring is from texporter colorizing using normals.  She's uvmapped.

Just looking at the size of the fighters on the launch tubes that actually looks rather small.. sort of like miniature version of Midway.
Do not meddle in the affairs of coders for they are soggy and hard to light

Now that you mention it....indeed the scaleing make it look small...or the fighters are near corvette size ^_^

Everything should be to scale... I'll have to double check.

Edit: it's to scale.... she's 1800 meters, the thunderbolt 2 is 40meters.  (port to star: crossbow, thunder, dev, widow)

Nobody dies as a virgin - the life ****s us all!

You're a wrongularity from which no right can escape!

Plasma cannon was removed, due to tech difficulties  :D  The two hull sections were refitted and welded together allowing for more fighter storage space.  More personal space was constructed on the top and bottom sections

The Thunderbolt 2 is not 40 meters. You always make your fighters way too large.

On one of the engines armor plates seams to be a triangle that isn't textured/mapped?! Its still grey unlike the surrounding yellow/green colored parts. Its also on the top.

Technically the last canon thunderbolt mk whatever is 34 meters.

34 meters? That would be something like 102 feet.... were the fighters in WC:P 102 feet? They didn't seem that large...

But in any case, VERY impressive... I've been dying to have the Midway available in FRED to play with  :D
Thanks,

I catch that too, however it's properly mapped, the top and bottom both use the same texture and the problem lies with texporter (theres two rectangles on top of each other).  It won't appear one the textured version

WC1, 2 and Prophecy were small, wc3 & 4 were huge.  Sometime way back when, when I first started modelling I used the wc3 stats and pretty much forced to follow suite for the rest. Fighters are to scale with wc3/4, the cap ships however are usually much larger than the originals, if not just in lenght, then also in bulk.

I know why she looks small, because the Midway had 6 tubes I think. This beauty only has 4 and they look like that they take up the same proportional width as the 6 bays of the original, so I'd say it's safe to say that she is between 25 to 33 percent smaller. Still looks damn good, this could easily pass for a production version of the Midway or maybe even a smaller test bed for design changes. I think you should make a version with the full six tubes, but having a lighter version is good to. It would be a good replacement for the ranger and Concordia classes

To get the six tube's you'd have to squeeze the fighters out of them and anything larger will have to go out the landing bays.  Prophecy fighers are ok, because their so small, but getting a thunderbolt or excal out will be tricky.  As for the mass size, she's actually got more mass than the earlier production version, due to the additional storage areas.

I could have kept the 6 but that means she'd need to be wider to accomidate, which in turn would increase her size to over 2km.

I really like that model. However, I remember the part behind the hammerhead being much sleaker, and that strange useless part behind the bridge being longer (but it somehow looked good in the original).

Could it be, that you simply scaled the model to small ? By looking at the fighters you placed in the catapult tubes, it looks to me like the ship should be much bigger and longer.

Actually...
Hornet/Scimitar/Raptor: 24/25/36 m
Ferret/Rapier II/Sabre: 9/15/24 m
Arrow/Hellcat/Thunderbolt: 20/27/34 m

From this, it is shown that WC1 was large, WC2 was small, and WC3 was in between. Most of your fighter models are at least 35 meters long, much larger than almost all WC fighters.
