its my first model, aside from a fighter modfied from one i got off HC.

Also, it shouldn't look as if it's "modelled", it should look as if it was "put together"

No. Do not start texturing. Make it realistic. It shouldn't look like that. It should look like it's actually a ship, not a plastic toy. Where are the windows? Where are the docking points? Where's the bridge? Actually model on all the things you would need to have a functional spaceship. Right now it looks like a plastic playtoy in space.
