Hi all,

Just got hold of the Saga release (usually play gemini gold) and wanted to give it a go. looks interesting, definitely. But is there a way to use the mouse in "drag to steer" mode? That means it should be like, when I pull the mouse I keep going up until I put it back in the center. the way it is now I would have to keep lifting the mouse in a kind of circular motion if I want to keep going in a curve, and I am sure that will break my poor mouse soon. Oh, and is there a way to make the game pick up all those keys towards the edges of my german keyboard? (it refuses f.e. ".,+*#'´ß`?<>").

I think there was a kind of patch that some SCP member was working on.
Still I could only recommand to use a joystick or the keyboard. Also gamepads are working. I even heard that someone is using his 360 controller to play the game.

That was me on my vacation. I had to test the mission I was working on somehow. :) Still, it worked surprisingly well.

Thanks :).

Hmm, but I am quite happy with using the mouse, it's very intuitive and much finer control than with the keyboard. I think I would have to buy quite a big and expensive Joystick to get the same level of control.

Any Ideas about that patch? Or is there soure code around that I could hack and roll my own patch?

well... I have not tried that hack. It is using the scripting system, which is currently supported by unstable builds (HEAD branch) only. I would not recommend to use it.

Any cheap joystick will do the job actually (or a gamepad like the ps2 controller)

For the mouse to work as you have suggested, someone built a patch using the scripting build of FS2_Open's engine.  IIRC it was Nuke...  Umm, yep.. and, once again, Google comes through A+, and the HLP Search function gets an F-

EDIT: I also thought that this idea was pretty good...

I dislike the mouse very much. It makes everything feel like a point and click it death game and not like a flightsim. I might be a bit oldschool at this ^_^
Only thing comparable would be that movement sensitive gamepad.

... the topic of this thread is turning your mouse into a "movement sensitive gamepad".  :p

Well that wasn't what I meant. Its more like the Wii controler....or I think the PS3 pad also has it. I don't know what its called but I saw it at a Sony demo for some game where they used the pad to turn the fighter around.

Hmmmm, i see...

Is there any good instructions as to how to get the cvs stuff compiled and running the prologue? Otherwise I will just wait and/or scan ebay for cheap joysticks...

I am sure you can find a Joystick for pretty cheap.  Heck, I just ordered a HOTAS (hands on throttle and stick) from Saitek.  This one is a refurbished job, but the price was about $80 after shipping for a fairly expensive stick.  You can probably find a cheap one for less than $50.

I could buy a rather decent joystick for 20 euros in Germany.

A friend of mine is also a lefthander and he got used to having the joystick in his right hand. You just need a few hours of training.
(But there are good joysticks which are suitable for lefthanders also.)

Before my current stick I used a righthander with my left hand. Was sometimes a pain to play but the stick was quite good. My new one is a bothhander but has a defect that he tends to turn left and I have to recalibrate it every time I play and even then I have to push him slightly into the right direction to fly straight ahad.
Thats also why I am not testig that much. I just wish that there would be a high quality joystick for lefthanders. I think there is a Saitek that can be modified to be used by lefthanders.
I could also fly using my right hand but my reflexes are slower.
