ok youve heard this a million times.

i live in alaska, every year we get money for living here. this year we got $1600 for 12 months of putting up with the ****ty weather and the lack of descent jobs. my account was already loaded now its down right bloated with just over 3 grand. cant think of a better time to buy stuff. maybe replace the old bad ram in my junker computer with new bad ram (sence none of the ram i seem to buy is any good and fails every memory diagnostic i can run on it). i decide on 3 256 meg sticks cause the way i see it lesser density means less chance of the ram getting fried on the way here and 3 times the chance of getting a good stick. with the shoddy quality control in the ram industry i need as much luck as i can get.

now youd think it would be easy to order ram off the net. well if you live in say l.a., seattle, ny, phoenix, or pretty much anywhere else in the lower 48, then you can just go with the usually free ups ground shipping. anyway i go to newegg to find some ram, pick out 3 sticks of something and calculate the shipping. and its $18 $19 bucks for fedex 2day (wich really means 4 day and on occasion 6 day) and no usps. no!

so i go over to directron, i remember it only cost me 10 bucks to ship my copy of vista which i wish i woulda never bought because as it turns out vista sucks. so i pick out 3 256meg sticks of 2700 ddr, and procede to check out. excuse me, you want 24 ****ing bucks to ship priority mail. you know the post office have the flat rate box for 8 something and it comes with the packaging material. this is insult to injury sence last time i ordered from them they felt the need to hike the price. NO!

tiger direct, pick out my ram, i feel a strange sense of deja vu. look around for some other goodies. meh. so checkout. 2 options $44 and $52 for 2 (5) and 1 (4) day delivery respectively (not that i feel respected). i dont get why it costs so much to ship a little tiny box of ram that combined would be about the size of a pop tart. why is it i can get a book shipped for 5 bucks, a cd for 4 bucks, or a pr0n flick shipped for 6 bucks, and a bottle of illegally imported absinthe shipped for 15 bucks. yet it COSTS 50 MOTHER ****ING BUCKS TO SHIP A TINY PACKAGE OF RAM.

the reason for all this is simple. all those companies rely on comercial shipping companies who have a profound hatred for alaskans. the united states postal service will ship to alaska for no additional charge, and if they charge extra it like a couple bucks. further more the post office is the only ones who actually seem to know where i live. last time i ordered fedex they didnt even deliver to my house, i had to go down to their office by the airport and pick it up. when fedex does deliver they usually leave it out in the rain. ups doesnt even seem to have any trucks here. why is it that online tech companies have to discriminate against alaskans by relying on alaskanist shipping companies. cant they just use the bloody post office!

i might as well use all my money to make a camp fire sence the internets made it impossible for me to buy anything
