Which ones do you have?  3.6.8 Zeta?  OK, if so, then get the latest 3.6.10 engine pre-release (Source Code Project > Recent Builds), and get the Normal Map pack with it.

So basically what jr2 said. Get the newest build from this thread and extract to your \freespace\folder, then select the fs2_open_3_6_10-20071028T.exe with the Launcher. Next, get the normal maps from this thread and extract to your mediavps folder.

Then, in the Launcher's Features tab, check Enable normal maps from the Graphics drop menu and add -height to the Custom flags field. Run and enjoy.

MediaVPs require certain FS Open builds. The Media VPs 3.6.9 will require FS Open 3.6.9(I think), we all have that build. I had problems of uncopatability in the past.

*sigh*... behind the first link you click Windows build, behind the second link you click Normal map test pack. The normal maps are in a single vp that you have to extract from the .rar to your mediavps folder. The executables in the Windows build are like your fs2_open_3_6_9.exe and the rest. Those are to be extracted to your root freespace directory. Then you just select the correct build from the Launcher like you did the first time you ran FSO. You don't reinstall anything. You just add something.

Just create the ****ing new pilot. You don't need to delete the old one, just don't play 3.6.10 with it if you want to avoid corruption.

but wont it overwrite the old open files like it does to retail, thus making it so i cant use him again?
