On the opposite side of the spectrum, I played Half-Life when I was in first grade. I was so scared; I was like "My goodness, where's the suicide key?" and my brother would be like "You're not stuck" and I'd reply "Yeah but look: Everybody is dead. No way I'm getting out of here alive, and I don't want to be mauled by some zombie."

Then I played FS2 in ~2000, when I was in 3rd grade or so. I got to the second to last mission (Bastion escort mission) and said "I give up this is taking to long". Of course I didn't know it was the second to last mission at the time, nor did I read any of the briefings.

Anyway, I'm glad that video games are fun for people all ages. Unfortunately, tetris is enough of a horror story for my mother, and my father is obsessed with crystal quest. I remember a while ago this guy came on and he was a grandfather, and he was getting FSO set up as a suprise for his grandson or something.

Err, i`m 52 and I still dabble in freespace, got a copy of TBP and fs2 on my harddrive. Guess I just tinker with it more than I play it..  :D

Same as me in that respect, remember, I myself am outside the 'Young Male' range at 35 ;)

The thing is, everyone has an anecdote about someone who is older and plays on their computer, because everyone must have an exception to prove the general rule ;)

However, I will add that young males should not be confused with 'kids', that's a mistake politicians often make.

They make alot more mistakes than that.  :nervous:

sorry to berate your car it wasnt meant to be a "my car rocks your car sucks" kinda post
but every review ive ever seen of that car rates it as really bad

That's interesting, because most reviews I've seen rate it really good.

Even the biased-against-any-and-all-american-cars Top Gear gave it top marks on performance and handling.  They had things to say about the interior, buttons on the dash, etc. but they couldn't fault its performance/handling... even against the RS4.

Trust me... before I buy a $54,000 car, I do research too.  not for a few hours or days, but for months.  i don't look up a few videos of it, and read some reviews online, i'll go drive one for a week before i make a decision. i have test driven hundreds of cars, and owned more than i can count on my fingers, everything from the all powerful Supra and trans am ws6, to a lowly mitsubishi mirage.

so don't judge me, or question me. please.  you can have your opinion, but i've got mine too... and when i buy cars, it's MY judgement and opinion i go by. :)

About the only game my dad ever played was Rogue Squadron 3D. We had a competition to see who could beat it. He brought home FS1 and I never touched it for 2 years, as the case looked boring. I was looking through the old CDs in 2000 and I picked it out. Actually reading the case I tried it. I bought a joystick for the sole purpose of playing FS1, and lo and behold it came with FS2: Colossus.

I remember trying out FS when I was fairly young and thinking, "Man, this is totally unrealistic.  The ships don't move like they're in space, and their are way too slow for this to even be in atmospheric flight.  This game sucks."  And years later when fsscp was born, I played through the game and loved every bit of it.  Weird huh?

er... "m" stands for meter not mile and 50 mi/s would be 289 681.92 kph according to google calculator anyways.

He means metres, and it's a bit lower than that....

50M * 60s = 3000M per minute = 3km per minute

3km * 60m = 180km/h

I was actually surprised that Top Gear liked it as much as they did.  Sarcastic and witty comments aside they really did like it overall (except for the dinging) ...but these guys are paid to not like every car unless it completely blows them away.  I'd say that is high praise enough.  But generally speaking reviews do seem to be quite positive on the CTS...I was impressed.

But my price range is down in the Honda Civic, Mazda3, etc. territory.  Probably end up with a Civic...its a Canadian thing to do :)

People seem to be...I'm stuck between the Mazda3 and Civic...the 3 has more style and a bit more sporting but there are several issues with it that I'm aware of and I have to wait for the mid year refresh because the current versions do not play MP3/WMA CD's (a key point for me :)) on the deck without an expensive upgrade...but thats fixed in the slightly upgraded 2008 and a half.  The Civic I like but its not as stylish, the color choices aren't as good, and I'm still not 100% on the digital speedometer.  Its not just tacked on...its very deliberate to make it easily viewable without having to look down but I'm not completely sold on that yet.  I think if I could have both put together I'd be happy :)

I do quite like this years Civic EX-L with leather heated seats, sun roof, all wheel disc breaks...and its very affordable as Canadian prices go considering the options.  I need to go to the next autoshow and sit in everything and just see.  Then do some driving again (I've already done test drives about a year back).

generally its a bad idea for a woman to enter any male dominated situation without a can of mace.
