Re: say hello to my new car
Nice. Though I prefer the look of the Bel-Air from the same year:

Re: say hello to my new car
please never compare a Bel-Air to a Cadillac ;)

Davros:  You're a prime example of what i was referring to in my first post ;)
See the difference between the car you've posted and the Z06/Viper, is that I could (and very well may choose to) own either of those cars.  They're actually affordable compared to the Fighter T.

So yes.  faster, 75mph faster top speed, blah blah....

...but 7 times the price tag...

Did someone say real muscle cars?

:p
I... must... NOT RESIST POSTING!!!!

The other car I'd like to get... 30 years younger than the '56 Caddy and also in black.

'86 Buick Grand National

Again not mine yet and not my picture either. I'll try to buy one off of my Uncle though he says he won't sell. Still, 0-60 in 5 seconds and a total of 5,512 built (not including the 117 LaSabre Grand Nationals).

I fancy my next motor to be a SilEighty Rep:

I don't like new cars. Too complicated for my tastes.

Actually you posted two.

Well one "ricer".  Whatever the hell that is. My picture was of an affordable, tasteful Japanese Coupe.

Is that an SD1?

Yup. Sd1 Twin Plenum to be exact.

well if you did mention it you'd be lying  :eek2:

quote from here : http://www.cadillacfaq.com/faq/answers/topspeed.html
"What is the top speed of a stock CTS-V?
The maximum allowed speed before fuel is shutoff is 175 mph.

If the PCM detects possible oil starvation, it will limit the top speed to 168 mph"

Re: say hello to my new car
I have a problem with these super saloons (such as M5s, RS8s etc not just the Cadalliac). They're cool and everything but they'll always be a compromise.
They're not super cars because they don't have the drama, exotica or puriety of design of a thoroughbred supercar (like a Mclaren F1, Zonda, Ferrari, Lambo, Porsche etc).

They also fail as a daily commute, comfy-sofa, pratical driver due to the agressive suspension, wheels, engine etc.
They're neither one thing nor the other.
So what are they for ?

If I had loads of money to get a car I'd buy something simple and inconspicious (like a Ford Focus) to get around in and buy something totally lunatic (like I dunno, a Lotus Exige?) for track days, high-days and holidays.

note that i said the "NEW" cts-v.  you're quoting something (on cadillacfaq.com, a site made by one of my friends) talking about the 2004 cts-v... quite outdated.

We believe it to be the fastest four-door sedan in the world.

Wow. We chatted after the conference with a GM guy we know and said, "You know an M5 will do the quarter in 12.7 seconds, right? And an S65 AMG will do it in 12.6, right?"

"Yup," he said. "We're faster."

i'd believe it.  cadillac hasn't ever said anything regarding the CTS-V that wasn't true.
they said it would beat the M3, it did.
they said it would handle like a european sports car, it did.
they said it would cost less than its competitors, and it did, by about $30,000
