This is a weapon I made and decided to share.
Tech Description:     "The Subach-Innes HL-8 is the next incarnation of the HL-7. Advances in Focusing technology have given the HL-8 a longer range and harder punch, but it still fires at the same rate as its predecessor."
I made some new effects (recolored the subach effects) but I cant figure out how to add pictures, sorry.  You know the drill, copy and paste the txt into your weapons table, add the ani and pcx to the effects folder.  Enjoy, and if you don't, that's your problem.

Do you have a table entry? It would be ok to have an "official" HL-8 rather than many versions.

Anyways, wasn't the HL-8 originally for multi? (For example the HL-D?)

I took a peek, seems it's a recolour with more range and damage, though the pcx and ani in the 7z might need some cleaning up. Otherwise, it seems good as a replacement for the HL-7 set a bit after the main campaign.


Meanwhile, would this count as "made" by myself? *shameless plug*

Sorry for the missunderstanding, The txt included in the 7z is the tbl entry for the weapon, the 7z also comes with the weapon effect and the impact ani.  I made sure everything worked before I posted.
Oh and sorry about the grainy quality, but it seems that FS2 only likes 8-bit pcx files.

Also, to avoid a Double post, heres the Mekhu HL-8 
Tech Description:     "The Vasudans took a different approach with thier HL-8 viariant. Instead of ingreasing the damage of each individual shot, they ingreased the firing rate. The new focusing systems easily handled the extra output rate compared to the energy load of the terran version."

Sorry for the spelling mistakes, you'll have to go in and fix them.

Sure, as long as you attribute it (table entry and glowmap by me, the rest by BlackHole and whoever he got it from, etc.). Also, remember that this is supposed to be a shivan weapon, so it won't look quite right being used by anyone else.

I like that word, "ingreasing" and "ingrease". It's a bloody obvious word, now that I've seen it. When applying lubricants to a mechanical gizmo, it works far better to put the grease on the INside of it.

Without such a new word, there could be all kinds of problems when dealing with newbies that have zero knowledge of mechanics. Telling such a one to "Grease the landing gear." could result in gear slathered with grease all over its exterior! But *ingrease* clearly means to put the grease inside the landing gear.

Ingrease is right up there with "enbiggen"!

That would be me.  I'm the one who made the model originally, as a Shivan version of the trebuchet.  Remember that next time.

I wasn't having a go at you about it, just highlighting a point.  My work was on some of the missile models.  Someone else, can't recall who, did some work on others.

I did:
Hornet (model and texture)
Trebuchet (model and texture, I think the other guy did one as well)
2 Shivan warheads (this one and one with a LOT of fins)

I also have on HD:
Cyclops
Harbinger
Helios
Shivan torpedo (unfinished)

I doubt the iamges I posted up a couple years ago are still up  (certainly couldn't find them using 'search')...

Don't worry about it, I just like to be covered when it comes to things like this. Maybe I should post pics of stuff in the datafiles (or stuff I'm using in general) in my thread and my credits so people can tell me if they've been left out.
