You mean doesn't he get that he shouldn't exercise his absolute right to stand for election?

As long as the two-party system is in place, the best that America can hope for is mediocre politicians. Therefore, dismantling that system is of higher priority in my mind than ensuring that the next puppet is more or less agreeable.

At this point, I would support a sentient gnat if he chose to run as a third-party candidate, just out of principle. Nader, of course, has no chance. This time he won't even syphon off any votes from Obama because the Dem base is head-over-heels in love with their new poster-boy. Ideally, I'd like to see Kucinich/Nader split the Dem vote and Paul split the Republican vote so that at least there was a semblance of democracy.

If the democrats can't generate get a high enough lead on the republicans this time, so that Nader's percentage doesn't matter .... well, they don't deserve to win.

There is no way in hell McCain will win, if only for the reason that he doesn't think before he speaks.
Words ought to be a little wild, for they are the assaults of thoughts on the unthinking.

Yes, but McCain is actually running his show. Nor has Bush faced an opponent with Obama's speaking ability.

This is what is wacked about the American political system.  Sure its great that someone...anyone...can say they are running for president. But its a two-party system.  Its naturally divisive and even if the opponent wins by the slimmest of majorities they still get to lead the country for four years.  I guess its more stable that way but I still think parliamentary is better.

I wonder if Nader is really doing it to present an obvious choice away from the other two parties or if he's doing it for kicks?  I imagine he's funding his own campaign yes?

Really, my feelings are summed up by today's quote:

"It's hard to believe, I know, but there is now an entire generation of 20- and 30-something Americans who don't know that Ralph Nader wasn't always a total asshole."
-- Marty Kaplan

Mal: Define "interesting".
Wash: *shrug* "Oh God, oh God, we're all gonna die"?
Mal: This is the captain. We have a little problem with our entry sequence, so we may experience some slight turbulence and then... explode.
