As far as we nuke them outside of the atmosphere, it won't be too bad. We'll only see a bright flash, but we won't hear anything and the radioactivity will be OK too.[/on-topic]

I believe no-one here would be important enough to order a salvo of nucleur warheads bombard an alien craft, even if we knew it would do anything. The creators of freespace would be taken into custody and questioned on how their idea for a game crashed nere a major city.
I'd probably be really freaked out, rub my eyes and, i dunno. But i don't think humans would manage to destroy the shaivans, and the shivans would be forced to destroy mankind because we're so certain they're evil creatures and would die to destroy them. And of course, how could the lucy crash? Unless it was blown out of control and it's entire crew eventually died.

today our nukes are about 100times stronger then that old hiroshima/nagasaki ones in the center of the explosion the shivans will have about 5000°C to deal with on their "shields".

Oh please!

The Harbinger says it has a 5000 megaton payload. You have to shoot 250 Harbingers at a Lucifer to completely kill it. 250 x 500 is 125,000 megatons. That's 125 gigatons. You think we Earth ****ters can muster that much firepower? Before giant metallic crabs come and kill everyone?

And that's not even taking into account the Lucy's shielding subsystem.
