He is a horrible excuse for a human being, who will never be loved....or deserve to be loved for that matter.

As to why, specifically, he made an overture to buy the IP rights to FreeSpace for no other apparent purpose than to make a sequel that would alienate the community.

Simply put: He is a game developer. His games are crap. He wanted to make FS3, HLP thought it would suck because it would be him making it. Derek then registered on HLP and called the only people who would ever even think about buying FS3 idiots.

It's terrible fun, with alpha males and PhDs all around. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised either way if it was genuinely him or a troll.

He went more than just saying all the great mappers, modders, etc of HLP suck. He said that their work will never match the quality of his work and then went on and on about what a great person he is.
