Since juggernauts are so big. And they have huge fighterbays. How come there fighterbays don't spit out cruisers and stuff also? A jugg only being able to spit out fighters for a ship of it's size would seem to have limitations to my point of view. Why not be able to spit out cruisers as well. A sath spitting out fighters and one or two cruisers would make the battlefield a lot more of a nightmare since the mission where the colossus takes down the sath wasn't very difficult. The sath spit out some fighters, it really wasn't much of a deterrant. Spit out some cruisers too and that would be a different story.
Every pilot's goal is to rise up in the ranks and go beyond their purpose to a place of command on a very big ship. Like the colossus; to baseball bat everyone.

It wouldn't make any sense seeing how cruisers are essentially glorified, barely maneuverable weapon platforms against and compared to fighter and bomber wings. Besides, cruisers have their own inter-system jump drives and have long enough range that carrying them around in the juggernaut hangars would be a waste of space and resources, when you can simply have them accompany the juggernaut as a part of it's battlegroup organization and use the space for storing bombers and fighters instead for more mobile firepower and versatile defence than cruisers would offer.

That's not to say that a juggernaut couldn't for example temporarily house a cruiser or few for repairs... It's plausible that a juggernaut - or even superdestroyer like Lucy - would have the capacity to carry a small spacedock worth of engineering capacity with them. Another purposes could be tactical deployment - as ramming device with element of surprise, or possibly armoured transportation vehicle for a meson bomb down the target battlegroup's throat.
There are three things that last forever: Abort, Retry, Fail - and the greatest of these is Fail.

The repairs sounds like a good idea. But still, a jugg say being able to provide it's own escort would also be really handy. It's got no escort, spit out some lilliths and it's got an escort. The sath wouldn't be able to carry that many cruisers. A sath is quite huge.

I can imagine them taking a few cruisers (or even a corvette) with them to... wherever they were going...

If the jugg is simply going to launch a few corvettes when attacked, then why don't the corvettes just follow the jugg around? I don't think that there would be any fuel consumption issues, and it would save time. I feel as if I'm missing something important here...

That's what i'm saying. If it can do something like launch it's own escort. Well then, hell, why not leave the escort ships outside of the jugg then and following the jugg around? That's like the idea of an escort. My initial comment was that perhaps it could launch it's own escort to have it follow the jugg around for a little bit if it needed an escort. And also has the ability to take them back in for repairs and so on.

Maybe it doesn't just keep them internally to launch as escorts but can build (or grow depending on your theory) them as needed.

Where would it be stored?  I doubt the Collosus is 6km long just to be a big arse blowy up thing.  Whilst I'm sure I remember a Fenris being 350m long, We have to consider the height issue, as well as the potential downfall it would bring upon the integrity of the destroyer.  If it were to have a crusier bay, this would have an effect on its ability to carry enough fighters and bombers to effectively pull off missions.  If the Collosus were to come under attack, I'd rather have 2 wings of fighters ready to be deployed, than a Leviathan or even a Deimos.

The same applies to attack missions, whilst a Corvette would have the firepower to seriously hurt anything that the destroyer came across, it's not that hard for capital ships to hit a slowish moving big target such as a corvette.  Whereas, a couple of bomber wings if correctly piloted, will be able to avoid beams and enemy fighters to be able to destroy their target.
I reject your reality and substitute my own, hence my existance on the Galatea!

Think your missing the point.  The Sath is big enough to launch several bomber wings and a couple of molochs with their own fighter complements.  Yes it would make sense to have them already deployed but how much about the Shivans makes sense?  Besides it would be more efficient for the GTVA to have all their fighters and bombers launched and on escort all the time too just in case of an attack.  Why dock at a cap at a space station when you can just take a shuttle over.

Lol, i should rename the topic because we're all mainly talking about the sath here.

In the heat of battle when you could dispense cruisers, fighters, and bombers. You'll probably be dispensing only fighters and bombers since they can be deployed faster. Cruisers would be a lot slower to deploy, hence they'd probably be deployed ahead of time when necessary, or if there was time to deploy, or if it's even necessary to deploy.

In other words i don't mean at all deploying cruisers in the same fashion and purpose as fighters and bombers. Since cruisers are a different kind of combat ship compared to fighters and bombers, all of these ships will deployed for their specific purposes and roles (different kinds of ships are different kinds of ships, you were thinking differently though). If a cruiser got deployed, it's sure as hell not going to do a bombing raid, but will be something like  providing support for bigger ships.

Instead we'll do away with cruisers, corvettes, destroyers, and juggies since bombers can do everything and every other combat ship has no purpose. But, this leaves behind tiny cargo ships that definitely will fit inside of juggs, and we should deploy those for bombing raids.

Poor poseidons :( They always get a ridiculous amount of overkill especially in fs2 missions.

During Operation Robin Hood in multiplayer, my internet unexpectedly died and the fighter I was piloting got replaced by some bloody AI. The other players didn't notice I had left, so they didn't stop the AI that replaced me from pumping 2 Helios warheads and several rounds of Kayser into a poor Triton.

Lmfao. LOL. I've noticed that a couple of times, sometimes back in the day when some people lost the connection, their ship would still be flying normally and i'd call them up on the phone and not believe that they got kicked from the game.

But, it seems like your artificial self treated that triton correctly
The most i've done in multiplayer is shoot down a ulysses with a cyclops.
