Scooby!!!

Your texturing is ... degrading.

Which one? the cap or the fighter?   The cap is some experimenting, and the wings on the demon are all that's left of the original demon. (don't worry the texture will get replaced too.)

Re: Model Release Redux (Picture heavy)
Well, it's the same phenomenon I've been noticing with a lot of your fighters recently. The older ones somehow looked more 'realistic' ... similar for the warship, but that might also be because of the lower detail in that case.

I thought for a while it was the fillets on the edges, or the level of ambient lighthing, but I think it might just be the textures.

Re: Model Release Redux (Picture heavy)
How about this?  I turned AO off and bumped up the ambient a bit.

Re: Model Release Redux (Picture heavy)
Better ... so it must have been the textures. Although as far as ambient lighting, I was saying there was too much, not too little.

Re: Model Release Redux (Picture heavy)
Yup, I like your bloodfang too.
Thanks :) .

I've got the Steltek mesh (just needs repainting).  The bugs base animated texture is there, just need to apply and modify it, someday.
Good to hear (/read) :) .
Though I also meant imagining & creating some new designs... Ok, you're doing a lot already anyway :) - it was just a suggestion to possibly think of Nephilim/Steltek when you next try to start a new ship model... ;)

You mean like this one?  http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v356/Shodan_AI/?action=view&current=deco2.flv
1.) Sorry for taking so long to check this out, but the first time I tried I didn't find the appropriate script needed to be allowed in NoScript...

2.) That looks nice, make more of these. :)

3.) Well, you see - I think this isn't exactly Nephilim design line. Their ships are mostly looking like fish with a few small spikes, while your ship looks like an insect with only a few fish features...
So I'd say you propably have a Shivan/Nephilim- or Shadows/Nephilim-crossover there, instead of a real Nephilim ship :nervous: . It still DOES look nice, though, so please continue :) - I just wanted to mention that I think the "mood" of this ship doesn't entirely fit Nephilim lines...
(well, I admittedly mostly am thinking of the Manta and Devil Ray here... but I currently don't see which WCP Neph ship would be as spiky as yours... Oh, an additional note: I really like the Hydra Cruiser, one of the best alien capship designs I can think of. And believe it or not, the Kraken seems somewhat... cuddly to me :nervous: ;) )

Re: Model Release Redux (Picture heavy)
I still hold high prazes to the tiamat and the leviathan (the tiamat being somewhat unexploited IMO), although the orca is also a design I like...

I simply do not understand why capital ship grade cannons were disabled in prophecy though: those huge greenish lances on the destroyers/cruisers/dreadnaught should have been capital ship grade cannons, but the idea was scrapped, which I find somewhat problematic: because of this, the orca is actually stronger than the hydra (whereas the hydra has 3 cap cannons and the orca 2).

Whoa, beautiful! Is that a skybox or just a static backdrop? The warship doesn't look very airworthy though.

By the way, did you get my private message?

Re: Model Release Redux (Picture heavy)
Yup, thats next on my list of todos.,

Honestly I couldn't find any really good earth from orbit shots that didn't have the sun in the background (that would make lighting hard).

So are you saying it's not a skybox then? It certainly looks slick though. I like the way the warship (Athena?) came out.

Re: Model Release Redux (Picture heavy)
It's a modified nasa photograph.  I removed the original moon, moved the clouds down lower and put in this moon.  Most of the pics I've come across google are those of the sun just peaking around the earth style.  While they're very pretty, any models would have to have the main light sources coming from the rear which would just case a black shadow over majority of the ship.

Edit: Actually i'm kinda guessing that where-ever this pic was taken it was probably just outside the main atmosphere. I'll keep looking for a better pic.

Re: Model Release Redux (Picture heavy)
Actually, it would be in the "main atmosphere". It looks like the upper stratosphere, probably photographed by a U-2 or other high-altitude aircraft.

Can you convert your backdrops into skyboxes, Scooby?
They are really impressive, just like your ships and will make an excellent addition to the pack.

Re: Model Release Redux (Picture heavy)
There are no other views of that particular scene; it's a single photograph. You need a 360-degree panorama to make a skybox.

Re: Model Release Redux (Picture heavy)
Looks nice. Only thing that bothers me a bit is the cockpit bubble. Maybe a cockpit like the WC1 Rapier or Raptor might be more interesting with this design.

Re: Model Release Redux (Picture heavy)
Only problem with that is that's not how the Demon was designed, most of these ships aren't 100% true to the original as it is, changing the canopy would further veer it off course.

Re: Model Release Redux (Picture heavy)
Scoobys models are allready straing away from the originals. So I don't see much of a problem about changeing the one or the other detail if it serves the design.
