Is this thing worth playing through? I've never played multiplayer so I'd never even heard of it until I start browsing the wiki. Heard there was a single player adaption from the wiki that wasn't very balanced???

You can always try multi.

There is at least one good mission there.  You can play the whole campaign by yourself just by starting the game in multi, creating a game and launching yourself.  You can do that with any multi player coop missions.  Still not as fun as multi.
No-one ever listens to Zathras. Quite mad, they say. It is good that Zathras does not mind. He's even grown to like it. Oh yes. -Zathras

Also, that campaign was designed for Multi, and since human players are much better than AI, some of the missions are excessively hard.

Hmmmn, I've tried multi for XWA but never for freespace. Might join in on one of those weekly sessions sometime.

Multiplayer FreeSpace never took off...but coop could be fun if there wasn't too much lag.

I always thought the multiplayer freespace stuff was mostly deathmatch/team vs. team. I didn't really think a lot of people were into coop.

Might have been like that back in the old days when there were squadrons playing competitively, but not so now. Most multi sessions tend to focus on coop games with the occasional TvT or dogfight mixed in for variety.

<Cobra|> You play this mission too intelligently.

In that case, it seems fun.
I'd probably be more of a liability than an asset though.

Is multi free for FS2?

Of course it's free it's Freespace isn't it?   Game times are posted in the Multiplayer forum or you can set one up yourself and hunt down some players.

  • A one hit wonder, you still want to touch this.
Didn't somebody around here port the multi missions to single player?
Every pilot's goal is to rise up in the ranks and go beyond their purpose to a place of command on a very big ship. Like the colossus; to baseball bat everyone.

  • If somebody made a campaign I've probably got it
Yes, don't know who did it, but I have a copy.  I'll attach it to this post and upload it to freespacemods.net
Does not require the FSport mod.  I don't know if it's still compatible with retail.

Normal people believe that if it isn't broke, don't fix it. Engineers believe that if it isn't broke, it doesn't have enough features yet.
The difference between Mechanical Engineers and Civil Engineers is:
Mechanical Engineers build weapons.  Civil Engineers build targets
An optimist sees the glass half full; the pessimist sees it half empty. An engineer sees that the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.
